Usually I love this place, it's my favourite bakery with quality pastries and that is why I am giving this bakery 3 stars. There was no issue with the baked goods. I absolutely enjoy the apple cakes from time to time but today, I was found to be upsettingly shocked. The lady serving me was quite rude to me as I enquired about certain pastry, which as a paying customer, I assumed to not be a problem. It was not busy and I was extremely polite, even purchasing the pastry as I would not let this lady ruin my visit. She was absolutely unwelcoming and could not care less about my question, giving me attitude. I would never recommend the lady serving me to ever work in hospitality again, not unless she learns to at the very minimum, pretend to be nicer. You do not need to love the customer but at least have some respect. My time and money can be spent elsewhere as the service was appalling with the most lacking and careless customer service. Usually I have a somewhat decent experience when I go to have a baked treat but today, I will not forget the manner I was treated with- it was shocking.

Edit- I am seeing more reviews, and let me say the more mature staff desperately need to cheer up! Their attitude is not making me inclined to return. Who cares if it is local, I would rather go somewhere further if I am treated better.

I've been coming to Egons for all my baked goods. Their almond croissants are the best and all their Pies and cakes are delicious.
I decided to order a custom birthday cake for my daughter's birthday and needed something that would suit both kids and parents, as well as feed 50+ guests. We ended up deciding to order 1 large cake and a dozen cupcakes. We went instore to enquire and spoke to Gary who gave us recommendations on cake sizes. We also provided images of cake designs we liked and he made suggestions on what they could do to help make the cake look great.
We later met up with Kerri on another day, who would be making the cake on the day we booked and she understood what we were after. The price was very reasonable and we went with a sponge cake with jam and cream.

The end product was amazing! The colour palette and design was exactly the same as the image we provided. The cake was soft and was delicious as always. Even the parents wanted to know where the cake came from and they were so surprised it came from the local bakery we all knew! The cupcakes were a hit with the kids and everyone loved the cake.

The look on my daughter's face when she saw her cake was priceless. It made her birthday that much more special.

Kerri, I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful cake and cupcakes.

I will definitely be having all our custom family birthday cakes from Egons Bakery from now on.

The experience is shown in the quality of the products and they are fantastic. I don’t like leaving reviews unless they are really good. These guys are very good.

Because of this shop, a $3m upgrade to this shopping centre has now been permanently cancelled. We all lose out on making the centre a better place because of the selfish actions of this shop. The money will now be spent somewhere else.

Travelled across Melbourne to sample their bee sting cake, and was not disappointed. Cake was delicious. Staff were lovely.

I don’t know why bread is handled with bare hands and fingers all over the product. Safe hygiene practices urgently needed/training

There is a man and woman that works here who were NOT WEARING A MASK during the stage 4 lockdown and mask mandate. Do you not have a shred of empathy for the elderly or immunocompromised? Or do you think you're better than everyone and COVID doesn't exist? Quite frankly its embarrassing and your business should be fined

Marrying into a European family I discovered the German classic "Beesting" cake (Bienenstich) and Egons make the best! A thick crunchy almond toffee top, an almost brioche like cake filled with a pastry cream (custard like) filling. Outstanding!

What a little gem of a bakery. I have purchased two cakes in the last month and both have been divine. Not only do they look amazing they are delicious too! My daughter couldn’t have been happier with her rainbow cake and we really loved the Black Forest Cake for my husbands birthday. The sales assistant I dealt with was lovely too! Thank you!

Great bakery, in fact by far the best in the area. Big selection of breads, incredible cakes and hot food. A local institution.

I discovered these bakers when they had a store in Toorak, been coming here for around a year and they do not disappoint. Respectful staff, reasonable prices and delicious breads, cakes and pies.

Xlnt shop with wonderful cakes and great selection of pies and pasties. All Xlnt. They do speciality cakes for parties, birthdays, etc. Good attentive staff.

The gingerbread is so freash, the Jam dohnut mouth watering and the staff are so friendly, I live a long way from here, bit always make sure I stop in for a gingerbread man, thankyou

Also get in early, cos the best ones don’t last long. Best to preorder for guaranteed special occasions.

Excellent shop. The only criticism I would have is they frequently run out of hot pies when one would not expect them to run out such as 12 noon. As the shop is always crowded, maybe this is the reason. I know nothing about running a bakery, but maybe a larger oven in the main shop would be a good idea.

Cheer up staff, it's Christmas Eve! The more mature staff should follow the younger staff and smile, it's not going to hurt you!

Best cake shop in the world! My family have been purchasing from this specialised cake shop for over 30 yrs.

This place has great donuts and cakes! Their breads are also very good. A local favorite bakery.
