Echuca Paddlesteamers reviews
24Was aboard the Paddle Steamer Adelaide today. Went on the 11: 30am dog friendly trip. We were crowded in like sardines. You could not move from your seat. There was no commentary, except the engineer and deck hand discussing their previous holidays for the entire trip. The children were NOT invited up to have a turn at the wheel of the paddle steamer. Very disappointing.
I was delighted to learn that Pevensey was the paddle boat used in the TV series All The Rivers Run, which was a favourite of mine back when it was airing on TV.
We had a wonderful time on the Echuca Paddlesteamers cruise on the Murray River. The 110-year-old paddle steamer Canberra was a great way to experience the beauty of nature and learn about the history of the region. The one-hour trip was very relaxing, and the history talk added an educational touch to the experience. Overall, we highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
Very fun ride to do with the family, lots of cool stories from it and nice view of the water and other boats
Visited the historic Port of Echuca in Jan23. Went up and down the Murray in PS Pevensey, a restored paddle steamer that is over a 100 years old! Its an experience to remember - like watching a period movie, live! Spice it up with a beer and skipper’s hat (available for sale on board!)
We bought the tickets online the previous day, but these are also on sale over the counter at the Port.
Plenty of parking available 100m from the wharf.
The cruise is an hour (other Paddlesteamers around that also offer longer cruises including meals), so there’s choice.
We first got our taste of Echuca Paddlesteamers back in Jan 2022 on the PS Pevensey when I proposed to my now wife. After the proposal we had the insane idea of holding our wedding onboard the PS Pevensey and when we engaged the staff they were nothing short of incredible. They enabled our crazy idea, and went above and beyond for our very special day.
They helped us by recommending photographers, caterers, and when the Murray threw a curve ball at us a week before the wedding, Kerry and the team moved heaven and earth to make sure we could still get married on the Pevensey and cruise, in groups, on the Adelaide.
Cannot recommend the staff and experience highly enough. Kerry and the team are absolutely A+
Don't bother buying tickets in advance!
The folks who operate this place have no idea what they are doing.
I purchased tickets for PS Pevensey in advance online to avoid missing out. Then it all went to pieces from there.
I visited the ticket office the day before the cruise to collect tickets in advance. Maryann handed them over and off I went.
Returned the next day for our cruise. I showed the woman our tickets, and was told to board on the top ramp.
Waited nearly an hour beside the paddlesteamer. No one showed up.
When I went back to the office, they told me the Pevensey had been suspended a week ago due to high water level.
They even told me i should have boarded the other paddlesteamer since that was "the one everyone else was boarding. "
My tickets said Pevensey, not Alexander Arbuthnot. Why would I board a different boat?
In the end I managed to get a refund as they claimed to be all booked out.
So.planning ahead and buying in advance only got us disappointment and bad attitude from surly customer "service" staff.
We had looked forward to this cruise for weeks.
Get your act together Echuca Paddlesteamers.
You were a real let-down in an otherwise nice holiday.
Everytime i visit Echuca i also go on the old paddlesteamers its a percect way to enjoy tbe river
1 hour ride they had alcoholic beverages for sale, I bought 2 stubby holders & a captains cap, was a lovely ride on the Murray river
We took our granddaughter knowing she had never seen a paddle steamer and she absolutely loved it.
We did the winery cruise, just perfect, the Crew were fantastic and the lady engineer was super passionate and very informative. Great lunch and beverage super good value?
You can imagine the bushrangers as you ride the mighty Murray heading into history. Don't miss your opportunity to get aboard. Rug up in winter.
We had such a great time on our paddlesteamer ride. We loved that it was dog friendly, with Mabel the Bulldog welcomed aboard along with the rest of the passengers. Mabel's biggest issue was not being allowed to jump overboard and go for a swim. We have talked about heading back for another ride this year. Definitely recommended!
Can’t fault the ship or the staff but the one hour cruise was started with a welcome and how they were going to give us some history about Echuca and Moama. In the first 3minutes 2 paddle steamers were pointed out and then complete silence for the remainder of the journey. I could have done it in a tinny and got more out of it. No explanation of any of the places we were passing or anything. Could have got a 4 star rating if there was some commentary. Very very disappointing
Would recommend the 2 hour paddle steamer, the route is significantly better than the one hour one.
Very very happy with incredible customer service, thank you, Lisa!
It was a great experience and we had an amazing time on board, team was very helpful and made our trip nice and relaxing.
Thank you guys that we could enjoy the ride together with our dog!
Had a wonderful cruise with the family this morning, couldnt have been happier with the steam boat and the views - Kerry was fantastic when buying the tickets - The kids enjoyed getting the oportunity to 'steer' the boat and became honouray crew (free of charge) the Capain was very knowledgeable although seemed a little bored (not sure how many times had given the same talk and had the same questions from kids) - 5+ for value for money for a 60 min cruise - would have been 5+ overall had the captain been a tad friendlier - would give a 4.5- 4.9 if it was possible.
A wonderful experience on board the PS Alexander Arbuthnot. Brilliant and informative commentary and very helpful and friendly staff on board. They provide lots of photo opportunities, including for children 'steering' the paddlesteamer.
Dogs are allowed on too, and are even given their own boarding pass which is cute!
Would highly recommend booking a paddlesteamer trip for the whole family when in the area.
Ah.yes.had my "All the Rivers Run" moment! Finally! Got to try it. One hour ride with commentary from Skipper Graham is a great way to experience what life would have been like when the Paddlesteamers were the life & buzz of colonial settlement & trade. Alexander Arbuthnot ran on steam which was really good to be able to experience real period action. A really nice day last week Wed complimented the scenes along the river & other steamers cruising by. Definitely worth it & Graham's voice over the speaker has that real bygone era quality to it!
A HUGE shout out to Kerry, you went above and beyond to accommodate me and my family (twice).
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and your hospitality. Hopefully we see u again soon.
