Eau De Vie reviews
59Ok whiskey selection, not as good as Whiskey and Aliment but its more of a cocktail bar. Has an interesting selection of accompaniments and generally helpful staff.
I organised a Cocktail Masterclass for a hens party at Eau De Vie. We all had a great time, it was a lot of fun. The atmosphere of the bar is great, stepping into the venue is like stepping back in time. Great cocktail menu with a variety to cater to anyones taste.
Ordered several cocktails and the roasted Camembert and Taleeggio cheese plates. All cocktails were crafted with professionalism and precision. Staff were incredibly professional, the prices were reasonable and the cheese platter was exquisite. The vibe of this establishment reminds me of a classy, old French bar and I couldn't recommend it more.
I’ve been to many hidden bars but Eau De Vie might just my FAVOURITE! Amazing cocktails and the atmosphere is just so special. Must-visit in Melbourne (if you can find it)
Nice place for a fun date. A lot of people packed into a small place makes for a noisy evening, so no chance of being overhead. Drinks are eclectic and come in a range of weird and wonderful glasses.
Nice place- really a perfect speakeasy replica. Awesome menu with really unusual drinks. The only downside was the bartender. I watched him mix my marshmallow cocktail (which I wouldn't recommend, watermelon was much nicer) and when he tasted it with a straw, his face turned like he had just tasted the worst thing ever - I heard him say "no that's no good. " and sent it out to my table anyway.
I would still go back regardless.
My partner’s absolute favourite bar.
This place comes alive late evening.
Great service, ambiance and top notch drinks. Our go to bar!
Con: a tad overpriced
4.8.
Not overhyped at all. This is a very, very, very good bar that is truly representative of the best of Melbourne. It has a mysterious entrance that I found hard to find despite repeated warnings. The dark lighting and dark wood panelled interior is very chic. There’s an awesome range of drinks here including hundreds of scotches. We had a lovely sparkling and a few wines together with some eggplant chips and a charcuterie board. Excellent smart active staff here as well. Trust me, it’s a superb place.
Amazing whiskey bar, so many amazing choices and such a great atmosphere. Quite small but with the dimmed lights you still feel like you have some privacy. The cocktails were incredible too, can’t wait to come back to Melbourne just to come back to this bar.
We did the degustation dinner. The food was incredible. The staff were a lot of fun. It was pure theatre with great attention to quality. The balance of flavours was so well done and many dishes caught you by surprise as the flavours really hit your palate. Amazimg!
My favourite bar in Melbourne. The drinks are concocted with skill and mastery untold. Nowhere else you will find their unique style and taste, when it comes to drink. The best part? Those guys surely love to entertain their customers, if a chat is what you are looking for!
Refreshing cocktails and a creative menu. A chic, speakeasy styled place with the decor and servers paying tribute to the prohibitionist era theme well. The experience was altogether very pleasant, chilled, and in good part to the great service. It was certainly surprisingly different to your usual cocktail bar and you're made to feel like you've had a bit of an experience rather than merely have had a drink, but not in an intrusive way at all. They take reservations or one can wait for table which makes it convenient.
Yes, you may need to wait in line if you haven’t booked ahead of time, but it’s honestly worth it when you get in. The cocktails are devine (I recommend the Popcorn Flip) and the staff are super professional and attentive. They are also helpful if you’re indecisive in what you’d like. I’d recommend going on a weeknight so you can have a quieter experience, but any night is great! I’d also recommend the home made salt and vinegar crisps, I could eat like 10 bowls of those Super cool experience finding the place as well - you’ll be amazed! Perfect 5 stars for Eau de Vie
Amazing place. So cool. Very authentic to prohibition era. Great music. Very tight and busy but if you go in understanding that, you’ll be fine. But if a wait in line but definitely worth it. Cool drinks! Average pricing considering. Food is perhaps on the pricey end however. I’d definitely recommend.
It is very difficult to ‘share the details of my own experience’ given we came here for my friends 30th after being recommended this bar especially, and flying interstate for the celebration. We were told to wait 20minutes, which we accepted happily.however after waiting 40minutes and having zero communication with multiple tables remaining empty, I sought out a waiter to ask and was told we had another 10minutes at least and those tables were taken, even though they had remained empty the entire time. All we wanted was honest communication so we didn’t waste our time on our one night in Melbourne.
Literally the best cocktails I have ever had. Cool little hidden bar and a really good experience every time! Try the penicillin!
If you can find the way in you'll probably be greeted by a long line. Apparently it's not quite as secret as you'd hope. Regardless, once inside a table freed up soon enough and the knowledgeable were happy to guide us through an extensive and exciting cocktail menu. The cocktails are very well made and the theatrics that goes into some of them are great. Besides cocktails they also have a great range of whiskeys. Prices average for a cocktail bar in Melbourne $20-$25 a drink roughly
Great quirky cocktail bar hidden down an alley. I'd recommend booking a table. Great cocktails, good advice, great ambience, love it
If you are a Cocktails and Whisky fan this is a great bar where you can enjoy either. The staff know their product and never fail to delight the tastebuds!
