East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation reviews
10The Rabbi and his family are warm and welcoming; the congregation itself a family. Fantastic prayer service and inclusive events throughout the year. Only issue is with climbing ladders.
It’s such a beautiful serene building of historical and cultural significance. The
Community is friendly and welcoming and it’s just a great place to visit on Shabbat or anytime.
Thanks for the tour Ruth! Really enjoyed the museum display on the windowsills showing archival and historic discoveries.
A very friendly house of worship where one is greeted with a smile, the service can be followed as Rabbi Gutnick directs/ guides everyone. All in the beautiful restored building which contains so much of the history of Melbourne. Even better with regular attendance and forming links with other regulars of all ages.
The Rabbi is wise and handsome. The congregants are pious and focus on prayer and never gossip or discuss footy
Enjoyed a visit and got to see the quaint and impressive library upstairs and observe the service downstairs. Adam.
Situated diagonally across from St Patrick’s Cathedral and the beautiful Parliament gardens, the building is only small itself, and you could easily walk past it if you don’t yet know the place. Interesting historical building inside, welcoming of respectful visitors and not as indifferent as the shuls in Elsternwick etc with guests. Lady working here very helpful with history etc. Shalom Aleichem everybody.
A very lovely old Synagogue. From memory the 2nd oldest in melbourne. The people were very welcoming.
Dropped in here and was shown around by the rabbi's wife. Made to feel very welcome. Lovely people.
