Dymocks Melbourne reviews
44I always lose track of time in here. Makes me feel as if I'm going down into an ancient library every single time.
Split across 2 levels, this Dymocks could easily keep you occupied for a few hours. The staff could be trained better to service all customers equally, even those that are coming in to collect cards and gift wrap. Being a Dymocks member and a frequent return customer, I didn't appreciate the attitude of the server, who looked annoyed when I asked her to gift wrap a gift I had bought elsewhere and hinted very loudly to her coworker that "it's just wrapping". Way to jeopardize your future sales by acting snooty!
Magnificent bookshop. One of the best in Australia. Huge range plus great atmosphere. Coffee shop too, so you don’t have to wait until you get home to start reading. You can feel that the staff are true book lovers. When in Melbourne this is where I love to be. The staff are friendly and genuinely nice people. With lockdown they must be struggling but, like so many of their loyal customers, I’ll buy on-line and wish them well for the future. A community needs real book shops and this one is a credit to all who work there. See you soon, you lovely people. Thank you for all you’ve done for me in the apx 20 years since you opened. I adore this store!
Always my favourite place to go when I’m in the city, it just feels cozy. The staff are wonderful and super helpful. Love shopping here.
Nice, friendly staff. Great place to buy the latest book with a wide variety of choice. The hobbies and games section looks a bit dated. Surely chess is more popular than some of the computer made Sudoku books?
I enjoy the staff member on RRR FM every Friday and there are a lot of bargains on the mezzanine. Do not poke baldy when he is up there he bites.
Very helpful and friendly staff, massive collection of books. Has a large collection of manga you don't often see in bookstores
Looks like it has every single book but the one my friend wanted - she asked. Everything else was too expensive to even bother looking at.
Great book shop went with my girlfriend she too was amazed by the awesome products and great service has a cafe inside it too much deserved four stars
Sadly, was aggressively yelled at for not wearing a mask (I am medically exempt). Had to drop the books and leave as I felt abused. Please remember to politely ask people if they have an exemption as it is only fair.
Has a big range of everything. Suitable for kids olders young. It has seats and a small play table within a cafe in store.
In need of books, come here. I normally walk into a book store and compare to an online source and am always disappointed with how much more expensive it is in store. But not here, I was shocked that some of the books were even cheaper in store!
Wide range of books, big space, from what I could tell the customer service was good, and anyone going there is also nice! Someone else spotted out the book I was looking for which greatly helped me haha. Good atmosphere!
Mostly strong selection of books here, though lacking in the philosophy and theory department. Politics is mostly categorised as current affairs and doesn't have much of a theoretical focus. Music section could be stronger too, as it mostly contains artist biographies rather than books on music proper. Prices could be a little cheaper, but they're not completely unreasonable. Service is polite and helpful and the shop space is warm, clean and easily navigated.
One of my favourite book shops in Melbourne. Has a very large collection of books with many genres to pick from. This place even has a small cafe tucked away in the corner. You can buy a cup of coffee and lose yourself in a book there. When I interned in the CBD I would spend my breaks here, searching the bookshelves for my next read.
I'm staying in hotel quarantine (Novotel on Collins St) and ordered a couple of books from Dymocks over the phone. Within 10 minutes someone dropped them off at the hotel. This is amazing! Thank you so much.
Awesome layout, there are so many books here even with the whole family we found what we were each looking for and more. The stores in the suburbs just don't have all this, well worth the trip. Service staff were great too, very approachable and not aggressive at all.
Collins Street bookstore with cafe. Love this place, it's a great feeling travelling down the escalator into the books. Huge selection.
A great bookstore with several different categories which would interest most book readers. My only issue is with the prices, as it can be quite pricey at times. But nothing beats walking around and finding something that interests you
Had a fantastic experience with Penni (I think that was her name, didn't quite catch the name tag) ?
Assisted me in finding me a book series I'm currently enamoured with (The Licanius Trilogy). Really understood my needs and then manged my expectations for a series. Couldn't be happier with the result.
10/10.
