Dumpling Master

I tried Dumpling Master for the first time last night - and it will be the last time. The dumplings were not cooked properly (had to finish them off in a pan at home) and expensive for 8. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Pork and chive dumplings are the best I have ever had, yum!

Atmosphere could be a little better if they used their free time cleaning up the empty dishes on the tables. More focus on hygiene.

Absolutely amazing food, staff was very friendly and the tea soothed the soul and warmed the heart.

Prawn and chive dumplings were OK but not fantastic. Plus don’t have fresh chilli available. Was too much of a thick skin for me on dumplings. Spring onion pancake very bland. Doesn’t have anything else coming with it.

Service wasn’t great as the guy who I ordered it from in the front was undoubtedly trying to sit down for having his lunch. Aren’t staff meant to have a lunch break? Food was a little bit late but not a problem.

Has potential to be a good dumpling place but needs better things.

Food for thought Peking ducks are great but not everyone wants half piece. Could do the quarter piece.

The dumplings were not bad. They have a thick skin and I dont think they are freshly made. No soy sauce on tables, only Chinese vinegar - easy to mistake for soy. Chili pots on tables almost empty and crusted with old food and look as though they haven't been cleaned in ages. No red chili sauce available. Place devoid of ambience. No wonder they are not busy.
There is great potential for a good dumpling house in Balaclava. This is not it.

Wonton Noodle Soup? Tastes as bad as the photos show. A gluggy ball of dough in dish water. The two wontons were actually dumplings, however tasted good. The liquid smelled like Like Port Phillip bay & was possibly dish water, both inedible. No Pak Choy, no sliced bbq pork, no ginger, no flavour just a bad aftertaste.

Hidden Chinese Food in Balaclava and never disappoint with reasonable price, generous portion, and taste delicious.

Sweet & Sour Chicken 5/5 (Recommended)

Black Truffle Pork Xiao Long Bao 5/5 (Reminded me when was in Shanghai couple years back)

Beef Fry Noodle 5/5 (Authentic flavour which surprisingly similar taste as in Shanghai)

Dumplings were definitely a highlight, the noodles lacked a bit of flavor and was a tad short on beef but overall pretty good.

Every dumpling in here was amazing. Scallop dumplings were the best, nice and chewy and held together well. The Xiao long bao aka soup dumplings were a treat, keen to go back and try the spicy pork. Chilli oil was a bit sweet, will ask for something hotter next time. Would recommend

The dumplings are good. But $13.50 for only 8 dumplings is overpriced. You need almost 2 serves for a decent feed.

Delicious dumplings and friendly service, especially to our kids. Can't ask for much more.

10/10 this was the first of many visits and I can confirm, having tried all the Chinese places on Carlisle street this is the best Chinese. The pan fried pork and chives dumplings were the best, although it was all excellent.

Reckon the wontons might have been microwaved (ie, very hot in the middle) and the fried dumplings I had were borderline warm enough, which is a bit strange for something that's supposed to be fried to order. Tasted ok though. Where's the bowl for the soy and vinegar?

Just picked up some pan fried pork dumplings, the place is really modern, even just to wait in whilst I collect my take away, a lovely guy made sure I got my extra chilli oil with my dumplings, loved the extra effort they put in for me. Friendly staff. Highly recommend ️

Overall a decent place, definitely need more drink options or to have the water outside in the sitting area as well because when eating hot foods in the sun always nice to have drink options

Amazing owner and fellow Employees. Establishment is well set out for the size, though a little small in terms of trying to get seating for a large group. I would recommend this place for 3 and under people. Big groups may not fit comfortably here.

Other reviews deterring the “chicken soup” has to remember that it is a BROTH. Broth is different to a thickened soup. The lack of interest in cultural differences in soup meals is showing in the latter of reviews. If you want your chicken soup, there’s Woolies and coles is across the road and you can buy your packeted and thickened “soup. ”

Deliveroo and Uber order eats from here have all came without any issues. I have never once not been happy with the items/food supplied and can back it up with how many times I’ve ordered from here.

Delicious dumplings, wonton noodle soup and spring rolls.

My recommendation is to try the Pork wonton noodle soup.

Good food, generous servings and a reasonable price. I enjoyed having dinner here with Grace. I only gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because it wasn't the greatest service.

The guy at the counter was friendly and helpful but forgot the cutlery and didn't tell us that the water was at the front. Basically, his mind wasn't on the sit in service because the place was just so busy with home deliveries going out.

I would recommend it for a quick sit in meal rather than for a big night out.

I'm so glad I came across this place as I'm new to the area and haven't found any decent takeaway dumplings until now! The pan fried pork and chive dumplings were delicious and definitely taste home made which i love. I will definitely be coming back:)

1) "We don't serve tea". What self respecting dumpling joint doesn't have tea?

2) $15.70 for 8x boiled chicken and prawn dumplings? That would be okay if:

- the restaurant was warm
- food didn't take ages to come out
- you were given something (like a little dish to pour your soy sauce and chili into, but nup, you've just gotta pour it on your plate and that goes everywhere and not how it is done).

Food is standard, I think likely bought wholesale and then just cooked here.

Ultimately, you can do much, much better -or the owner can improve these simple things and justify the high prices.

Almost raw chicken dumplings and “chicken soup” that tasted like hot water don’t think any chicken came near it. Only positive very polite young man at the counter
