This place is the best. The man who presumably owns it is there every day and is just the friendliest guy on earth, already offering you a free taste of their DELICIOUS pakoras while you're still walking up to the counter. I'm a vego and their buffet selection is delicious and nutritious (especially during winter omg I stock UP), and their mango lassis are my FAVOURITE lol. I'm also a huge cheapskate and they have such great deals for small to large meals with 1-3 curries with or without snacks that I genuinely find it difficult to go past them at the Preston Market even when I plan to try something new haha, their food is just so hearty and affordable and the guy is so friendly and lovely and kind like he genuinely wants you to be there to serve you delicious quick food. I never leave reviews but I just looked up the name of this place and had to leave one because there's not so many places (especially what is essentially a market with a hot-food storefront hidden inside the market) that I walk away feeling with a huge smile on my face regardless of whether I've ordered a full lunch or just a lassi with a bunch of delicious free fried treats in my hand. Love this guy and love this place. If anything happens to the market and D'Souzas it would be a huge loss. Can't vouch for delivery but it's gotta be my favourite place to grab lunch in the whole market and the guy who runs it deserves all the five stars I can give, love you guys! Might need a veggie korma tomorrow I think lol! Xx

I never leave bad reviews but this was the worst Indian I’ve had. I ordered Meal Deal 2 on Uber eats. The chickpea curry was watery, the lentil curry had almost a sour taste and the lamb madras didn’t have much flavour but the lamb was very tender.
Quite disappointed because I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while but don’t think I’ll be back.

On our first visit to the market we had already eaten but passed by this incredible store that sells an assortment of Indian snacks such as samosas, pakoras, and more. The lovely gentleman in charge of the store offered us some samples even though he knew we were not going to purchase anything. The samples were delicious and I made sure to purchase some on my next visit to the market. The samosas and pakoras were fresh, not oily, and full of flavour. This has got to be some of the best customer service I have ever experienced in Melbourne and I look forward to purchasing more from the store.

Delicious samosas, bhaji and pakora (excuse me if the terminology is off). Full of flavour and a great example of how good a vegetarian snack can be. Recommended!

Amazing food, affordable and the staff are lovely, they let us try samples before we bought anything. Definitely will be back.

Best food and lovely service. The curries are delicious as well as the dosa, samosa and bhaji. You always get a free tasting as well

What a place! What a lovely family! Out the front, their bain-marie of delicious foods is exactly what it looks like: delicious. I recommend the goat curry. If you want it spicy, you'll need to ask. But inside, oh inside, if you're like me and COVID has made you into a buyer of bulk seeds, oats, and flour, then this is the place. They have everything: black rice, chia seeds, sesame, 12kg flour bags, organic oats, spices, etc. It's all there.

The other week I went in on crutches, and a lady actually went and got everything for me while I waited at the front. It felt like one of those neighbourhood shops you hear about from the 1960s.

Go for the food, stay for the staples.

The most impressive range of herbs and spices I've ever found in Melbourne!
As you browse, your mind will be transported to faraway places!
I love this shop!

A lovely man was offering tastings of pakora, they were delicious. Also bought some samosa! Their curries looks so rich and delicious, I’ll definitely be back to try them!

They have a takeaway and grocery store. When it comes to spices if you can't find anywhere else they have it here. Whenever I need some rare spice or herb I go here and I'm never dissapointed. Friendly staff too!

Lovely staff, they give the customer food to taste.
I tried samosa and vegetable ball with sauce, was so tasty, and the price very cheap
The food is Indian; they also sell Indian food products and spices
