Dr Mary has been a trusted guide through my Graves Disease. She will call me every few months to check up on me without invoicing for it. Great advice delivered in a compassionate way.

Her knowledge of thyroid problems seems really out of date and simplistic. She only treats TSH. She is not interested in anti-thyroid antibodies or T3 and she certainly is not interested in symptoms! I mean if you have a very simple form of thyroid disease she could pick it up and treat it with this method. But frankly if you have such a simple case your GP could probably also manage it and for a fraction of the price. The reason we have specialists is because they are meant to be able to help with the more complex cases. This woman actually knew less than my GP. She also made some stunningly idiotic comments during the consultation. She told me the reason I was not able to loose weight was probably something to do with how my body lays down fat (so basically 'you are fat because of the way your body stores fat', gee I'm glad I payed $380 to hear that) and then she said you may have insulin resistance but we will never know because there is no way to tell. I pointed out that you could just test fasting blood insulin. And she was like' oh well you could do that I suppose'. I was kind of shocked. It was like if you took your car to the mechanic and they said, you may have a flat tire, but I guess we will just never know because there is just no way to test that. Maybe she is more helpful for people with other types of issues, but if it's your thyroid I would give this woman a miss.
