My partner went to doctor toffler for medication and a diagnosis of ADHD. He has been waiting over 6 weeks for him to get back to him with a script so he can have access to his medication. Honestly some of the worst practice from a psychiatrist I have ever seen- countless calls to the office from both him and myself and a formal complaint was still not enough to get him to simply call my partner to give him the script he needs. This has caused so much stress and anxiety for my partner and myself and severely impacted on his daily functioning. Pathetic.

Honesty is the only way to get any guidance you may have been unaware of what issues lay beneath the surface, I feel free to speak openly about anything I can't say I have been so comfortable with any other phscyatrist, I wish to see dr toffler ASAP

Does anyone know how to get into contact with Sr Tofler urgently as both of his phones don’t seem to be working?

Other than that fantastic and extremely smart doctor.

An awesome specialist and human being. Very kind - listened to me ramble - let me explain. He actually “gets it” at a functioning everyday level ie.we live with challenges daily; my executive functioning is not great (ADHD- lol). He is so understanding and helpful. Will not be moving. Highly recommended. Claire

After a lifetime of misdiagnoses, and being incorrectly treated and medicated as a result, I finally found Dr Tofler, who actually listened, understood and validated my symptoms and experiences instead of gaslighting or fobbing me off. Wish I had found him 20 years ago!

Good listener, and is very inclusive of patients when it comes to processes, plans, etc.he obviously really loves what he does because you can see the emphasis of people he has, and you as an individual.
He is a good therapist and a excellent medical doctor.
Very nice old man.

Dr Tofler is a very kind and caring man. I have been a patient for him a long time and he has helped me achieve my health to a level that seemed impossible before. I now have confidence and abilities that I did not have before and I would like to thank Dr Tofler and Glenda for their support. God Bless you and the all patients and future patients of Dr Tofler. If you are searching for answers and a solution to your mental health, see Dr Tofler as I can vouch he will provide unequivocal assistance and a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

He listens and is prepared to try new meds unlike many others. So he has beautiful speaking voice it does not make him pompous. He takes his profession seriously but unlike many other of his brethren does not take his himself with a dose of hubris.

How to make an uncaring and cold doctor - a delicious 5 steps recipe:

Step 1 - Look at your phone constantly and make absolutely zero eye contact with your patient. Appear disinterested in what he/she is saying and just mumble under your breath. Remember: NEVER apologize to the patient for looking at your phone for nothing related to the patient you're seeing.

Step 2 - Make fresh veg/fruit juice in the blender while the patient is pouring their heart out to you. Handle their hundred of dollars worth of documents with fruit sapped stained fingers.

Step 3 - Constantly look at your clock and watch every few minutes whilst simultaneously juggling your eye attention to your phone all the time when the patient is talking to you. Very difficult! Level of difficulty: PRO APATHY

Step 4 - Run more than 45 minutes late to every appointment without a hint of an apology and if you're good at that, cut every appointment short by at least 10 minutes of the agreed 50 minutes.

Step 5 - Make and receive phone calls which are totally unrelated to the patient you're currently seeing, and making them wait for you. After that, never apologize or excuse yourself.simply go on and act as normal.

If you've done all of the above steps properly, you should have a unsympathetic and calculating psychiatrist. Well done!

I am very sorry hear such harsh comments directed towards such a committed Dr. I recommend those unable to comprehend the world of psychiatry a fabulous book by M. Scott Peck, "The Road Less Travelled. " Unfortunately not all patients form a connection with their doctors, and as he mentions in his book, in order for a doctor and patient to begin a free flowing and constructive therapy session, there must be a frequency match between Dr and Patient. If a doctor is eating due to his/her commitments to the patients, then that is a compliment to a patient, revealing the comfort the Dr.is feeling. Being late is not Dr. Tofler's flaw; in any area of healing, a doctor who has his eyes fixated on his watch to me is much worse than a doctor who allows a session to end naturally, rather than forcefully. Waiting is something everyone must expect anyway when going to any doctors office. I ask those negative review writers if they have never made anyone wait, or have never been too hungry to not eat, yet too committed to make someone wait? !? Have they never taken a phone call, while in the presence of someone? Dr. Tofler is human. If any of those negative review writers expected someone similar to a superhero, then I am hope they manage to find "it. " No-one is perfect. And ONE session is far from sufficient to come to such harsh and unforgiving conclusions. However the main point is that Dr. Tofler, despite the eating and etc.has managed to save thousands of lives and rebuild another thousand, if not more. When placed on a scale, I personally feel honoured to have acquired the opportunity to meet such a beautiful human being who is humble enough to expose his "core" while chasing the well-being of those in need. Getting therapy and doctors are not tin-men different from us. They are humans that have feelings and needs. They too have to prioritise their actions and if that to some people feels rude and unacceptable, then why bother with the negative when they should be wasting their times searching for a Psychiatrist that starves himself/herself and is impossible to reach due to his rigidity. Flexibility is a virtue, not a flaw. Dr. Tofler is by far one of the most giving, natural and respectful Dr. I have ever come across. He provides with generosity what the patient seeks. No means of hatred can destroy such a loving and committed Dr. In addition, the secretaries are an added bonus and as a whole they create one of the most warmest and welcoming environment one could ever ask for. Thank you to Dr. Tofler and both secretaries that are absolute gems.x

Agree with the negative comments.

If he really truly "cares" about his patients, at least have the decency to look up from his phone when I'm talking to him and stop making unrelated calls to other people when I'm airing my heart out with all my very sensitve problems. Extremely unprofessional. I've confirmed with him when he texted for 10 minutes for SOMETHING THAT ISN'T RELATED TO ME! Students, teachers, workers aren't allowed to be on their phone during meetings or classes, when what they're doing on said phone is TOTALLY UNRELATED to their topic, but somehow a psychiatrist is allowed to do that? What has the world come to? I can be a psychiatrist too - just look at my phone and do Facebook, Twitter, etc while the patient in front of me is telling me their life story. It's basic human courtesy not to look at your phone or call someone who's TOTALLY UNRELATED to the patient's needs!

Being late is fine and being late is human, but cutting my session short 15 minutes (he only saw me for 35 minutes) as well as making food eating into that time is unacceptable. If you're late, you compensate for it by seeing the full time paid by every subsequent patient, not cut into their time. I've seen dozens of doctors who are frequently late, but they honour the booked duration that I paid for, not end it early.

Eating is human. Of course. But you eat during your own allocated time, not while seeing a patient. Again, first doctor in the world I've ever seen do that. And if you're really urgently hungry but yet still "care" for your patients, WORK OVERTIME. My GP and clinic psychologist work non stop from 9am to 8pm Mon to Fri as they have so many patients yet care for each one of them. Again, if he truly "cares" about his patients but do not have any time, WORK OVERTIME AND/OR WEEKENDS. Don't charge me for 50 minutes when he only saw me for 35 minutes. If you really cannot work overtime and really cannot squeeze in so many patients, then CLOSE YOUR BOOKS and stop accepting new patients. I've seen many specialists do that (including psychiatrists) and they've got rave reviews and recommendations from existing patients.

TL;DR - Eating and being late is human, but there's something called TIME MANAGEMENT and OVERTIME/WORKING ON WEEKENDS like other genuinely caring (and some even more elderly) health care professionals that I've come across. If he really cares about his patients, make every session 50 minutes or whatever time they're booked in for, NOT end the sessions early! If you really cannot squeeze in so many patients while juggling eating and being late, STOP ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS and focus on your already existing ones! Also, it's basic human courtesy not to look at your phone or call someone who's TOTALLY UNRELATED to the patient's needs!

Completely awful and unprofessional. Would not recommend. He is ALWAYS late by minmumm 30mins- 1hour. He doesn't even remember or keep track of what's going on, states to take the incorrect doses of medications more than recommended. He eats during my appointments. I understand, but if you need lunch, simply don't have an appointment during an hour of your work day, no problem. Not during my time.
He rushes appointments, in and out and always running behind.
There are better professionals out there.

For those who praised this psychiatrist as “dedicated”, “walks on water” and a “life saver” must have seen a different doctor from a different planet. The truth could not be further. Like Johnothan said, he frequently eats during a consultation, even when talking to you. For those of you arguing that everyone needs to eat to survive, that’s perfectly fine. But in a school, university or work environment, there is always a time each day placed aside for lunch and snacks leaving the remainder of the day for professional work. Furthermore, he never used any tissues or napkins when eating, which left fresh nectarine juice stains on reports that I paid hundreds of dollars for.

As if that’s not enough, he would randomly look down at his phone when talking to me for something totally unrelated to my case. Sometimes he would even abruptly cut me off mid-sentence just to make a call that has nothing to do with me. To add insult to injury, his manners are simply appalling. There were no “sorry” or “excuse me” for making a call with regards to another patient or looking at his phone during my session. Just picked up the phone and pretended I wasn’t even there. When finished with the unrelated call, he simply went back to his chair and continued eating again, leaving my thoughts in limbo. Personally, this made me feel like an object, and most jarringly, it made me feel like my thoughts wasn’t being heard or understood – a primal requirement for anyone working in the medical or mental health field.

The last straw came was when he was more than 30 minutes late which resulted in my consultation time being cut to less than 40 minutes (when I clearly booked for a 50 minutes appointment), inclusive of the time he spent preparing his snacks, randomly making calls and looking down at his phone. None of which had anything to do with my case. An avid clock watcher, always looking at his clock. To add insult to injury, I waited 3 long months just for this consultation, believing he’s one of the best. I could’ve found someone else better during the long wait and get my mental health issues managed.

Listens attentively. Out of 7 years of doctors, he was the only one to get my dual diagnosis correct. I’m very happy that he found me the right meds.

Dr Tofler is an excellent psychiatrist and having read some negative reviews below I understand where you are coming from although I do not agree. Dr Tofler may run late because he has to attend inpatients at his hospital first, and deals with challenging cases during the day and does not cut people off. He also has a very full list. I don't think he is pompous at all, he is from a very good family who have all given dedicated service to the public and in my opinion quite down to earth and accepting. If he says "he is on your side" he means it and yes he is on my side and also the side of my long suffering wife.

Dr. Tofler is the most dedicated, empathetic and sympathetic psychiatrist I have ever had the privilage to meet. When I first met Dr. Tofler 3 yrs ago, I had lost all my "vision" regarding the future. Fast forwarding 3 years: I have not only regained my vision, but have managed to maintain it. With his genuine guidance and care, Dr. Tofler is truly a gift to psychiatry that I recommend to anyone who is willing to challenge themselves by lifting the boundaries of any "mental" illness, in order to create a productive and positive life. Dr. Tofler awakened me to take charge of my life, from a state of ruin and will do so for anyone willing to be awakened. Bless Dr. Tofler. X

After 15 years of misdiagnoses I was getting ready to fall on my soared. However 7 years ago, Dr David Tofler was the FIRST DOCOR to diagnose me correctly and treat me as a humun and respect. I still remember one day I had to go to hospital and Dr Tofler first words to me when he had seen me were ""I'm on your side"" that me feel safe and cared for. Thank you Dr Tofler

Absolute rubbish. Barely listens, ableist and condescending. A legal drug dealer that gives you tic tacs instead of something useful. Ten Thumbs down
