Dr Chris O'Callaghan reviews
8Excellent bedside manner and very knowledgeable. Chris is very funny and is very good at diagnosis. He explains the condition very well and is very good at emphasizing the pathogenesis of the condition. Chris also noted and appreciated my velvety skin and baby like hands (this is a diagnostic criteria for HSD). I feel safe in his care and have already recommended him and his team to colleagues as I feel there is a lack of awareness about the structural and pathophysiological differences for individuals with HSD or EDS. Very grateful to have a solution as it has been missed and minimized by many other professionals.
Affected individuals are prone to serious and potentially fatal complications, especially vascular, intestinal, and uterine ruptures.
But six months away no medication?
Been seeing him for over 10 years and he’s excellent. Ignore any negative reviews from people that don’t understand you need to try something to see if it works and sometimes you might need to make a call for a follow up.
His treatment has made a huge difference with my condition and has most certainly saved many potential amputations of my fingers.

I can't remember ever seeing a doctor, especially a specialist who was so caring and down to earth, who didn't have a God complex!
This doctor made me feel totally validated in what I was going through and really seemed to get it.
And didn't make me feel like some hypochondriac. He listened, and asked questions, and then listened to the answers. Not just going through the paces as some specialists do. (I mean I'm forking out a lot of money here you want your specialist to at least listen to what the problem is. In the past we have been to one guy and were in there 10 minutes $350 thank you very much. Not an isolated case) He was patient with me as I can't remember things, and my brain fog is really bad.
My husband and I left with hope.
Even though I know POTS or Elhers danlos isn't something that's cured. I now know what it is, and I understand whats going on in my body. And has been all my life!
I wish all doctors had the same bedside manner as Doctor Chris O'Callaghan.
So many Doctors just get sick of you when they have exhausted all treatments and you are still not better. As if its some personal slight. Like you don't want to be better in any way. I mean, that's what I am there for. And its hard work getting there.
And they do not think you know what's going on in your own body. Or like you to even suggest you may know whats going on. That's a big no no!
I don't expect Drs to cure me, and I don't expect every treatment to work 100%, but I am happy when I find a Doctor who is patient and understanding, and respectful that I know my body, and doesn't give up on me. A rare find in an ego driven profession.
Dr Chris O'Callaghan is a good Dr in my opinion. He may not be able to cure you, but he will treat you to the best of his ability in a kind down to earth way.
This review is to counter the Charlotte Salisbury 1 star review that I thought was unfair. So I'll give Chris 5 stars because Fludrocortisone is a great drug for POTS (but not for everyone, we are all different) and if he gave Charlotte. 02mg (maximum dose) I see nothing wrong with that. That dose helped my 13 year old with POTS a lot. If it did not agree with Charlotte then she should try something else, not attempt to sully Dr O'Callagan's reputation because her POTS did not respond to Fludrocortisone. That's not his fault.
Definitely don't recommend to go to Dr Chris. Prescribed a damaging medication at the highest legal dose indefinitely without any follow up appointments. This has caused permanent life long damage. If you have POTS syndrome he isn't a POTS specialist. If he prescribes you with fluro-cortisone, be very careful to make sure you are monitored closing and begin small dose only. This medication is not the long term solution to POTS syndrome.
