Dolphin Fountain reviews
9It's not a very elegant fountain as such, but it does have an element of serenity to it. Placed right next to many mature trees, the design allows you to also have a sit down in shade. My toddler enjoyed going up and down the steps over and over by himself (the height of each steps are great for toddlers), gaining confidence everytime he repeated, then he upgraded to include climbing the natural seating area as he went round climbing up and down the steps. We also incorporated learning about the different animals sculpted on the rocks and counted them. It's placed right next to the mound and pond which naturally ties together and makes for nice little walk and 'hike' for the toddler, and a beautiful picnic area with more running water and ducks.
Really quirky for this garden which is replete with classical statuary & the like. I had to look it up & discovered it was commissioned in 1982. The detail in the marine sculptures is excellent - just not sure about the location. Our Bayside Councils will kill for it to have this along the foreshore. Up on top of Point Ormond Lookout for instance.
Dolphin fountain itself was un looked after and didnt have any running water at time of our visit midday on a Tuesday. The surrounding pond had a few fountains and baby ducklings at this time of year. Would be a cool climbing area for kids trying to spot all the animals when there is no water.
A beautiful fountain giving joy to all those who walk past. A magical place for the young and young at heart.
Love love loved the place. We had our work Christmas picnic here and couldn't have decided on a better place than this. Perfect weather for a perfect place. This place is also a must visit place with kids.
Dolphin Fountain is the perfect tranquil setting for a romantic and relaxed ceremony. A private location in a public space, Dolphin Fountain in Fitzroy Gardens is easy to access and has lots of parking options. A hidden gem in the city.

Hidden deep in the gardens is this whimsical Krongold Dolphin Fountain. It consists of a cairn of granite boulders adorned with an assortment of sea creatures including dolphins, seahorses, turtles, crabs, octopus and starfish. The Fountain is in a beautiful setting within the Fitzroy Gardens and is very popular with bridal parties, commonly seen in this part of the gardens with their photographers.
I always seem to have a good time when I visit the Dolphin Fountain by the lake in Fitzroy Gardens. It is, of course, adjacent to the Mound with all its little hidden pathways, and in the centre lies a lesser known and much smaller fountain, Boy and Urn. Altogether I think there are seven beautiful fountains in this beautiful park.
