We can’t praise David Elbourne enough. Absolutely 5 stars. A sleek, elegant and functional design for our new house in Mt Martha.
DJE Design (David Elbourne) was recommended to us by one of the estate agents in Mt Martha. We contacted David who came to our old house on the block and inspected it. It quickly became clear that the house wasn’t worth fixing. David took over and guided us through the whole process of a new build.
Our brief to him was a bit strange. We referred to the way Moroccan houses show a neutral face to the street but wrap around the rear of the house in the form of an enclosed living area and courtyard.
And this was exactly what David delivered.
Because we were moving from central Melbourne and would be quite a distance from our family we asked David to include three visitors bedrooms. There was an amusing episode where an almost apologetic David rang and said: ‘I’ve found a way to add another bedroom. Is that ok? ’
Of course it was. Astute, perceptive design at its best. Above and beyond what we’d asked for.
So now we had the plan for a five bedroom house. David guided us through dealing with the council, engineers, builders. There were a few silly complications, especially with Mornington Shire Council who were incredibly slow.
During the build process, David liaised with the builder, engineer and surveyor and kept us clearly informed at all stages. A very valuable service for newbies like us.
And long after the build was over, David continued to advise us when we found instances where the builder had cut corners.

BTW – there’s a weird 1 star post (the only post that’s less than 5 stars) from someone called 100k subscribers with no videos challenge. Sounds like some kind of blackmail bot. A post like this with no details and no sender name is worthless and should be removed by Google.

Dave was absolutely brilliant to work with. Having built a couple times before he took onboard all of our input regarding things we loved and loathed about our other houses and designed a home that best suited our families needs. Nothing was too difficult and Dave worked to deliver within our timeline.

We saw one of David's designs in mornington and we decided he was the one to design our dream home on Arthur Seat. It was a very very difficult challenge but David with his professionalism design skills and attention to detail he designed our dream home. My wife and l thank you very much.
