Diner on Franklin reviews
17 I searched because I wanted to eat Korean food, and it was the perfect meal, including dessert. I think I will become a regular.
Friday lunch special + Coke Zero = about $28
Banquet menu choice 1 - Seafood soft tofu stew +
Basque cream cheese cake/ fruit/ kimchi/ fried broccoli/ rice cake skewers/ fried dumplings and seaweed/ salad/ gobong rice
I had a good time
For the price of the dish I had, cauliflower binimbab, rice could have been cooked better fresh. Overall, food was on the sweetside.
Such a good Korean restaurant! The food is delicious and authentic. The Babsang is amazing, you can try a lot of small dishes as well. The place is clean and tidy and with good atmosphere. Service is good, owner is polite. Very impressed with this place!
The cheese buldak set was spicy, delicious and very filling, and the eggplant fritters were great as well. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu!
This is definitely worth visiting if you're in Melbourne. The lunch special is particularly worth the price.
We ordered the pork broth set, beef bulgolgi set, and pork bulgolgi sets. Each comes with a sizeable main dish, and a number of side dishes from kimchi, tteokbokki, salad, dessert, fried cauliflower etc. It was delicious and a great experience being able to try the side dishes, which all have a different texture and flavour to each other.
It is very very filling though, so if you're not too hungry, I'd recommend ordering one set between two people so you can finish and enjoy it.
The diner is well lit with floor large windows which look onto the outside, is very well located near Queen Victoria Markets and the Flagstaff Gardens. They have some lovely fruit drinks as well.
The food can take a little while to come out, but is well worth the wait.
Handy location!
Speedy food service, the fast food chain has a lot to learn from this place!
The food was excellent, well-priced and presented.
The staff was friendly and nice.
The spicy pork Bimbibab was fantastic.
A truly gem restaurant hiding next to Queen Victoria Market. We ordered a Korean Fried Chicken set and a Cheese Buldak Chicken set. All of the set cost around $25 but definitely 100% worth it as you can see from the food photos there are plenty of side dish for each set. All of the side dish are excellent, they taste way better than our expectations. They even have a small cheesecake and fruits come with the set. Highly recommend.
A small intimate place serving excellent Korean food. It is run by a couple who work efficiently and effectively so everything runs smoothly.
I can see the passion and care they put in every meal.
Food tastes amazing and service is great. We came for lunch and ordered the set meal, which comes with rice, side dishes, fruits and a mini cheesecake. Definitely going to come back to try other things on the menu.
Super recommended.
Super nice and worth for money!
But I left my jacket in your shop
Can you keep it for me? I will go and grab from you. Thank you.

Just opposite Queen Victoria Market, this cosy place has a nondescript exterior, that you might be walking past it if one is not looking for it.
Tried their bapsang and there was quite a generous amount of rice to go with the main (choose either tofu stew, beef, pork or korean fried chicken). I went with soy garlic for the 'kfc' but I think sweet chili might be better to go with the healthy mixed grain rice. The side dishes are plenty and I liked the kimchi, deep fried dumplings (I saw others got fried shrimp and meatball on top of their dumplings), fruits and the small cheesecake.
Fried chicken was chunky and nicely done. Enjoyable.
Great for big eaters and value for money. Friendly place.
The babsang is so worth the money! All the side dishes were delicious, and so was the main dish I picked, which was the cheese buldak. The chicken was crispy and well coated with the sauce, and the amount of cheese on top was in no way stingy. The tofu seafood soup was a bit too salty, but when you eat it with rice it's alright. Portion was very filling as well, highly recommend eating here!
We got 2 meals with (KFC Fried Chicken sweet and chilli and beef bulgogi) the side dishes were just good 7/10.the main dishes are good as well I give them 8/10. We also have corn cheese 9/10 so yamm. Reasonable price! The service is simple as it’s small restaurant. Overall experience 8/10. Definitely I recommend it and I will come back to try other dishes.
Food was good but slow cause they were busy. Portion was generous and tasted good. Especially the tteok-bokki and the corn cheese.
Would've given more points if only the service wasn't so bad. Unfortunately, the lady was really rude to us. We almost walked away but since we were already waiting for 20 mins we waited another 10mins.
Though the food was good but I'm not gonna rush back due to the service.
Hidden gem indeed - we literally just walked past while looking for a place to eat! We ordered KFC Babsang, Gimbab, Corn Cheese and (not in photo) Combination Seafood + Kimchi Pancake. They have such a good menu offering - very few places serve Gimbab so I was excited to order this. The Babsang is a great idea: We absolutely loved it! - perfect amount of food for the perfect price. Guy in photo is Korean and he highly recommends this diner. 100% would come back next time we're in Melbourne.
Run by a Korean couple that manage to serve lots of visitors quite efficiently. Nice home cooked style Korean food. The meal sets come with nice sides and even a small dessert.
Their dining set is a must try! Awesome value for almost $23! The deal offers a variety of sides, vegetables, and best of all, your choice of protein (I loved their beef bulgogi, cheese buldak, and kimchi pork bone broth - esp during this rainy season)! Shout out to the duo working hard behind the scenes! Thanks for being so welcoming and super!:)
Fired chicken is nice, so is the pork soup. However the other ones are just too sweet for me. Price is ok, not too expensive.
