Leanne from Departure Pets was an absolute pleasure to deal with in what could have been a stressful move for us and our dog from NZ to Australia.

She was professional, punctual and patient with her communication.

We have to do the move back to NZ in a years time and will be looking to use Departure Pets again. Great service!

I was about to book my pet online. But the staff over the phone called Leanne was rude. Is that the attitude you’re giving to your customer? If you’re having a bad day, do not bring it to work. I would rather speak to the first staff member I communicate with through email, Bec.

Evie and Mac travelled home to Tasmania from Perth WA, with Departure Pets on 14th April. It was a long day for us all, leaving Perth at 6am, stopping over in Melbourne for 5 hours, and arriving in Hobart at about 6pm, followed by a three hour drive to our home on the North West coast (I was on the same Virgin flights as the dogs). All stages of the experience with Departure Pets was fantastic, from my first enquiry and booking right through to picking the dogs up in Hobart. The dogs had flown previously when we moved to Perth, and were fine, but I was still nervous flying them again this time. Dropping the dogs off to the Virgin staff on the morning flight was so reassuring, as the staff present were so friendly and gave Evie and Mac lots of attention. I received an update from Departure Pets when we arrived in Melbourne where Evie and Mac received their comfort stop, it was again so reassuring to hear that they were okay, had their water topped up and had been let out of their crates for a stretch. Picking the dogs up from Virgin Cargo in Hobart was also a breeze. The dogs were a little stressed, as expected, but slept the whole way for our three hours drive home and were so excited to be in our old house again. One of pictures I have attached is them on the night we arrived home, they were calm and relaxed and ready for the next chapter of their lives. The other pic is of them enjoying their beautiful backyard the morning after their flight. I cannot recommend Departure Pets, enough.

It felt like a family-run business who actually cared about your pets well-being. The entire process was seamless and they went out of their way to accomodate me with my over-bearing emails and my short timeline.

My anxious dog, Banjo, had no issues with the team and was treated so well by them during her layover in Melbourne before her long trip through to Los Angeles.

Thank you (especially) to Shane who was an absolute delight to communicate with and sent me a lot of photos during her trip to put my mind at ease.

I would not recommend this company, especially if Amy B**** is caring for your pet. Gives bad advice for rabies vaccines by advising a brand. Once the vet on site advised by herself, he told us that the papers were OK.

Very difficult communication!

And on arrival we notice the passports of the cats changed knowing that they are official documents.and no tax to pay when the cat enters his country.

Excellent service! My two cats traveled from Melbourne to Toronto in such a good conditions, they landed safe and sound. Great and professional service, since they picked them up from home until their arrival at Toronto Airport. I highly recommend Departure Pets!

The best people ever! They really CARE! They made the process so easy with great communication. I could not rate them highly enough! They should be everyone's go-to for all pet moving! Jacqui and Cheryl went above and beyond for my dog and cat, and it was a really personalised, calm experience for all. Beautiful people, and the best service ever! You can't go past this company!

Overpriced by over $500 on a one hour domestic flight. Then said we have to buy a crate for another $250. My advice is get other quotes and compare.

My recommendation, do not use Departure Pets to transport your pet on any long-haul flights. Australia to New Zealand and back I am sure they would do a good job.

My experience briefly: I flew my medium/small dog from Melbourne to New York. I spent thousands to do so - the flight path was MEL > SYD > LAX > JFK. As far as I could tell, MEL to LAX was okay.

But once in LA, Departure Pets and their agency partners basically handed her over to American Airlines and completely shirked any further responsibility for her welfare. I learned afterwards, she was in the crate for nearly 15 hours for the 5.5 hours flight. When I got to her, she was so stressed she was bleeding from her bottom, she was covered in her own filth, she was absolutely starving and without water. I needed to run to the emergency vet. There was no Departure Pet/agency partner on the JFK side to ensure she was in good health.

I reached out to Departure Pets for an explanation - there response was essentially "but we got her to LAX and she was fine there". So yeah, would definitely not recommend them for anything longer than a shorter-haul flight.
