Delight House reviews
14 I went to buy takeout and came home and found that I got the wrong one. I went back and informed the store. The store insisted that they were right and wouldn't exchange it.
I just want to eat the takeout I ordered.
Very disappointed. We ordered 2 dishes and both were re-heat by microwave and not freshly cooked. Did not taste good either. Although we were hungry, we left after a few bites. Paid but will not return.
Dirty table, dirty plates, they gave us the used plates at the beginning! Overpriced, very poor customer service, charge extra for paying by card. Not recommended.
Box Hill is pretty much taken over by Northern China style of cooking these years. DH is one of the remaining decent Cantonese restaurants. Roasted meats are of high standard. Chef is from Hong Kong with over 25 years tossing woks. We had Ginger and Spring Onion mud crab on noodles, roasted duck and vegetable in broth, outstanding! The best part was the check, very reasonable.
I bought half a roast duck, it was delicious, but I paid 21 by cash and 23 by credit card, but there was an additional charge for swiping the card when I paid the bill.
One of the best place for roast meats in Box Hill! Their duck is amazing!
Their other dishes have never disappointed. My absolute favourites are the XO pipis, braised pork with preserved veggies and eggplant with prawn mince other dishes are still amazing too but those deserve special mention
Still quite quiet around 6pm on a week day, picks up around 7-8pm
Only one big table in the restaurant so if you have a big group, definitely book earlier!
Once I ordered a Peking duck, only a few slices were cut into it, and the rest of the duck meat was not served.
Their chef is superb! Head and shoulders above other restaurants in Box Hill in terms of taste. Others may be more popular and well known in Box Hill, but Delight House, as a local and of Chinese heritage, serves beautiful authentic Cantonese food.
We tumbled on to this obscure Hong Kong Chinese restaurant as we were walking along Carrington St, passing the busy ones. It was our lucky draw as the food was nice and fresh! We were served complimentary soup upon seating! Yum! One certainly get to order more exotic dishes if you can converse in Cantonese! The steam fish was great each time we visited! The boiled duck was a tasty difference compared to the usual roast duck! Vegetables were fresh! What a good meal without much cooking, as they should with fresh ingredients! The skill makes the difference in taste! Bigger discount if u pay cash! We have become their regulars ever since chance discovery last year!
Ordered the duck and crispy pork on rice. Duck pieces were all bones with no meat, pork was cut into 2cm pieces. Never seen a bbq place so stingy. Will never come back here again. I paid $18.50 for a plate of rice and bones
The roasted duck in the open stove is extremely delicious! But the EFTPOS handling fee is too much! One piece at a time!
Took family to delight house in Box Hill for dinner, surprisingly the food was absolutely delicious!
Ordered BBQ combination plate (roast duck and crispy pork) family loved ithad to order other plate. Flavour was spot on and pork crackling was crispy.
Other dishes ordered char kway teo, sweet sour pork, garlic king prawns with glass vermicelli, wonton noodle soup, deep fried salt and pepper chicken spare ribs, definitely enjoyed and love the food.
Will go back and try other dishes in the near future
Amazing food and such lovely staff, they even remember our little group every time we come in!
Nothing compares to takeaway
I want roasted pork and char siew with scallion oil, but I can't serve it with sour plum sauce.
In fact, all your juices are tied to a small amount, so how much will you lose?
I still want to buy some juice last time, but this time I can’t
So can we unify the staff service?
