Delhi Streets reviews
66Excellent taste. We really enjoyed the restaurant's "food". We are impressed by taste and services. Delhi Streets is fantastic.
After multiple disappointing experiences at other Indian restaurants, I had almost given up on dining out for Indian cuisine until a close friend recommended this gem. To say it didn't disappoint would be an understatement—it rekindled my love for Indian food. The Pani Puri, a personal favorite, was absolutely delightful. The restaurant was bustling, with eager patrons willing to wait for a table. Despite the high turnover, the quality of the food remained consistently excellent. I can't wait to go back for another round of their delicious dishes.
We love coming to Delhi Streets.the food is delicious and the service is impeccable. We ordered the Chana bhatura and it is the best I have had in Melbourne. The Thalis are also very good with lots of options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarians alike.
This eating corner is a little too crowded at times, simply because their Indian street food is tasty enough. Delhi Streets Chaat favourites on a platter - Pani Puri, Papri Chaat, Samosa & Aloo Tikki. All served with chutneys.
Dined it at this cosy and colourful restaurant on a busy Saturday evening. The chaat platter lacked the authentic Delhi taste required to satisfy my soul and seemed to cater more for the non-Indian crowd. The chutney's overpowered the platter and drowned out the individual flavours of each item. The paneer pizza was a personal favourite of the evening. Found it to be a great spot for a one-time eat but wouldn't see myself returning anytime soon.
I am updating my previous review. I used to always go here because the food was really good. Recently I came here, the atmosphere is so cramped that when your seated at a table, you will literally end up bumping in to someone that is seated next to you on the small tables. You cannot even place two proper “ Thaali’s “on the table. Wine was ordered and it was horrible and also served in a normal glass/cup. The meat platter was really terrible, meat was half cooked. What you call “ chicken tikka” is not even close to what it should be. The taste of the lamb kebab was not great. For that i will not recommend at all to anyone. The only good food was the “mixed thaali”. It had a variety and was really nice. The deserts served is cold and no option to receive it warm like it should be. It’s really disappointing that this place has come to this. Price wise its feels it wasn’t worth it. Quantity vs Quality its 50/50.
Such a great place to drop by for your lunch or dinner Indian street food fix. Never had a bad meal here and despite how busy the staff are at times always helpful with a smile. It's an institution at this end of the city
Great service. Great food. One of the best Indian food in Melbourne. Definitely recommend the panipuri for starters and the Chana Batura.
Food is amazing and prices are reasonable.
Do not recommend this place if you are looking at spending long time chatting with a large group of friends.
Since the place is usually busy, it may be not ideal for that.
Love the Chaat here! The servings are a great size and at good prices. Recommend going after the lunch time rush as it can get quite busy!
I love this Indian street food! Funky and delicious! The Pani Puri, tandoori grilled and the thali are so delicious! Definitely will come back again soon for more pani puri
We tried chaat plater. Pani Puri was good but other we are Not happy with the taste and it was served in a way it got mixed and doesn't look good either. And we were unable to separate the dish from each other.
Such a brilliant place hidden away in the lanes of the Melbourne CBD.
If you are visiting over the weekends, make a booking on their website. The place is packed and for a good reason.
The style of sitting and the tables may not be suitable for everyone specially if you want to sit facing each other and chat while you eat. Most of the seating was where a person sits next to the other.
The food served is amazing. Had that Indian taste with a milder spice level to it. The food reminded me very much of the street food that you get in Delhi and Punjab.
We had the chat platter and the aloo tiki chaat and both are awesome. I will surely suggest the papdi chaat that blew our brains.
For the mains, we had the maharaja thaali for which we chose the 3 curries: butter chicken, lamb korma and dal makhni. The butter chicken was a bit runny but the meat had an amazing cook to it. Was soft and delicate and I can say the same for the lamb. The curry was a bit watery for this as well but the meat was so well done. The thaali was served with a naan, rice, pickle and some greens.
For the mix thaali we chose the mix veg and the butter chicken as the curries. The mix veg was really delicious. We enjoyed that a lot.
The place also serves some beer brews from India and we had the Bira white which was pretty good.
Delicious and authentic Indian food. This place is very popular. Fully booked out within an hour of opening.
Highly recommend the chole bhature
I don’t know where to begin. I shall try with good things about this place. This place seems to be very popular and always seems to be busy.
True to its name, there are many Delhi street food options which made me drooling seeing the menu.
I chose Bhel puri and a lager beer as a starter. Bhel Puri had too much Imli (tamarind) sauce making it hard on the palette. The actual taste got lost with this overpowering tamarind chutney.
While I was half way through I was offered the Thali (I took mixed thali which gives one Veg and one non-veg curry). Not many option here though. I chose the safest one - Butter chicken and Matar paneer.
The size of the thali was good which came with some wilted salad leaves and dry chutney and a papery papadam (the papadam was kept too long after frying). The rice was a complete letdown. Too dry and had lost all the moisture. Must have been cooked and constantly reheated.
Overall it’s all hype and average place. This is my personal opinion and probably had too much expectation from an Indian restaurant.
Used to be better. Curries are watery. Flavour is lost in the curry being like water. Something like daal makhani that's supposed to be thicker in nature is like soup. Naan was good. Rice was decent. Chaat is good too. Gulab jamun was the highlight. Kulfi is average. Small seating areas. Overall average place. Not worth the 5 stars that people constantly give it.
Positive-Good Tasty Food
Negative- Service needs to improve, Very small tiny place so hard to fond place for dine in, Cost of food bit expensive.
Food is no doubt very tasty! But they have reduced the quantity of each item.
Even though taste isn’t compromised.
Must try their chat platter!
The rating reflects the complete lack of social distancing, miserly serves of the important stuff and forgetting our order.
This is a popular spot, with 3 sittings on a weeknight. We're packed in like sardines with complete disregard of the pandemic and only care for profits.
My friends had the Veg Thali while I ordered the Masala Dosa. The dishes come out looking so big but it was massive serves of rice in the Thalis to feed 2-3 people with hardly any curry and a paper thin crepe with not much inside the Dosa. The desserts were equally small portion sizes.
Felt sorry for the two staff running around like headless chooks to serve so many diners. It wasn't surprising they forgot our order and we had to ask.
Every dish was flavoursome and a celebration for the tastebuds so I can appreciate the high ratings, but geez my friends and I haven't had such a bad experience in a long time!
Absolutely amazing came in as soon as they opened and was fast filling up. The food was amazing so full of flavour food wasn’t spicy but full of flavour the naan was so soft and light would highly recommend I left full and extremely happy half hour drive to get to but totally worth it!
