I have been here a few times in recent weeks. You are really spoilt for choice.
The selection of savoury food, the delicious cakes and great coffee is amazing.
The staff are very friendly and accomodating. The atmosphere is bright, very clean and welcoming I will be back often. The photos don’t do the selection justice.

Was beautiful experience, excellent customer service and delicious food and with varieties of sandwiches and desserts. Want to say Thankyou.

Very disappointing.
I would expect today that owners of cafes would know about hygiene.
Owner Tony sneezed into hands and continued on handling utensils and cutting avocado.
To our horror, he did not hand wash or use hand gel. This is unacceptable and comes after owners have just reopened after a long period of closure after illness.
Clearly I’m not coming back.

Nice Cafe, friendly staff. But the cakes were quite disappointing. The tiramisu just tasted of cream.

This cafe deserves 10 Stars not just 5 as it is one of very few cafe's in Victoria that make a proper black coffee that tastes how coffee should taste and their tarts are so good that I went back to get more to take home for desert. If your in Balwyn stop in you will not be disappointed if you enjoy good food & coffee.

Hardworking owner couple who are very welcoming and accommodating and know how to serve up an extra hot coffee. Diverse selection of good quality fresh food items to choose from.

Toast and coffee were good. Man serving (possibly owner) could do with some customer service training. I’d go back but if I were to receive the same attitude it would be my last visit.

Great place for a coffee. Love getting my complimentary biscuit! Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Lisa always makes my almond latte perfectly and both she and Tony are always friendly and up for a chat. Great range of cakes including gluten free and we quite often buy them for family and friends.
Very glad we have them as our local cafe!

I visit here with my buddy Andrew all the time and we love the coffee, hot chocolate and my favourite chicken mushroom wrap. So much better than the previous owners.

This is my go to place for my large coffee every morning! I enjoy popping in for a quick chat while waiting for my coffee which is always served with a smile! Have seen this business grow over the years, after many changes of hands, but in the last few years Lisa and Tony have made the place shine again! The food is amazing and the service is always with a smile! Would highly recommend!

There are a few coffee shops around here and between my home a Degani. But for 3 years I have gone there everyday for a coffee or three as they’re the best, or grabbed one of many fair-priced tasty nibbles. Last summer I spent most of my time making work calls outside but still observed the owners make nearly every patron smile in some way. I took this high level of service for granted during the busy times but now when I compare to other outlets, owner’s sour faces, quality short-cuts, and non-engagement, I appreciate the friendly welcome I get and see to others at Deganis. It’s tough all round, so the fact that they care to cheer us grumpy people up during lockdown should be appreciated, not trolled! PS Try the milkshakes too!

Great coffee, personalised service and really friendly staff. There are some OK places in this little strip but this is the one to go to.

Both the owners are lacking in customer service skills and empathy, extremely disappointing considering the surrounding shops/cafes are all extremely friendly.

There are much better options within a stone's throw. Avoid this place.

So disappointing. For a while, I have been reluctant to share my experience out of respect that the owner could have been having a bad day but it is evident that time and time again, his lack of professionalism and overall attitude must be revealed to the public. I was eating in with my client who has a disability - it was my duty of care to give my client the choice of where she ate and to then stay with her. My client requires 24/7 support. As a support worker, we are required to take clients out and can not afford to purchase food during every shift. I had brought sushi with me as it was a very affordable option. I was there for my client, to empower her to eat Degani as she chose to. I purchased a drink out of respect that I was sitting in the cafe with my client. Unfortunately, I was met with a very rude greeting from the owner who others had already warned me about. He didn’t offer any empathy that I was there for my client but instead focussed on that I had sushi from elsewhere - he asked me to leave (and not in a nice way!) even though my client had purchased food from Degani and was sitting down preparing to eat. I could hardly believe what I was experiencing. This is just another example of people being completely oblivious to the special circumstances of other people with additional needs. My client was very unsettled after this experience and she was stripped of the opportunity to eat and dine where she chose to. This is discrimination. Kindness is always the best option - I hope that you will reflect on the many negative reviews that you have received and use them to better the way you treat your customers.

Very unfriendly man that works there. When I was asked to see an eat-in menu he replies very rudely and tells me he doesn't have one and that he could stand there and recite the menu for 15 minutes or I could just tell him what I wanted and it would be easier. How can you work in a café with that sort of behaviour to your customers? I go there quite often as the lady that works there is really nice however I don't think I'll be back after experiencing this. Disappointing.

I have been going to Degani for breakfast or lunch or a coffee now for over 3 years, I've tried a lot of other cafes in the area but always end up back here, owners are great for a chat and the food and service all always number one as is the coffee recommend you drop in.

This place is getting better & better - great service and a better and greater variety of cakes. Good Street side seating now. Coffins pretty good too.

Lovely little place. Food and coffee is great. The couple running the place seem to know how to run a happy little cafe! 10/10 would recommend.
