David's Master Pot 大味麻辣烫 (Glen Waverley) reviews
41 Good food, poor checkout service!
5 for the food, but minus 3 for the checkout experience.
Been always a big fan of the food from this brand, however the checkout service is really disappointing this time.
We have someone came in with food allergic (mushroom and seafood), and we asked at the checkout if it is possible to cook the food separately, which is normally what we do, as certain mushroom gets stuck at the strainer from other customers. The checkout staff was extremely impatiently this time and said “Sorry we cannot do it” straight. Then I claimed we come here all the time and it was good, the staff then said “oh then let me check”. Eventually they agreed with cooking the food separately - which is the normal practice from this store
Then we noticed that there’s this brand anniversary event, which quoting from another staff “You can spin the spinning wheel once per table after ordering, and will get the prize accordingly. ” We then got a pack of smoky pork belly voucher to be redeemed at the check out desk.
Went to the checkout desk, queued after everyone, and asked to redeem the voucher. The checkout staff grabbed the voucher, sighed and gave me a look as if I was asking for something unreasonable…. Then the staff said “by the way, you cannot claim the prize until you post a pic on the social media”? EXCUSE ME? I was never told that it is required, nor it is written on the voucher
Seriously I understood the store is busy, but that shouldn’t be the excuse for customers to be treated impatiently. Please consider coming in the shop if you have any food allergic.
(Ps: Pic posted is my food, and I don’t have any allergic)
The place is small but it has interesting content selection. Some items we have not tried before such as fresh green bamboo shoot. There are alacarte menu as well. Recommended.
No service at all, terrible attitude. Tables were very dirty and no one would clean them. Will not visit again.
David Master pot is absolutely amazing and I loved every soup base they have. Food are very very fresh and it also looks very clean unlike somewhere else.
They also have promotions buy two dishes get one free, so It’s very good and reasonable.
Great location, after shopping near Melbourne central, a great stop to eat.
The staff is also very polite and nice for sure.
I would highly recommend David master pot and it’s so lovely.
Why don't you need to any vaccine to buy take away in lockdown period. On the contrary, after the lockdown finish, you need a vaccine to buy take away?
I was there (Glen Waverley) today, I was rejected and told I need to have my first jab to buy take away. Why?
I enjoyed my bowl of Szechuan Spicy Dry Pot noodles. However, I had to add vinegar to enhance the taste. Spice level 3 was just nice. Didn't like the Signature Spicy Soup though. Tasted better elsewhere. Two bowls cost us $55, which is super expensive, so beware when picking your ingredients. Also had the Crispy Pork Belly and the Prawn Spring Rolls. Wasn't impressed either. Won't be back anytime soon.
Went here for dinner last night. Pretty happy with the service and food. I got the 四川麻辣拌 (aka traditional spicy dry pot). Good flavour. Got level 3 spice. Hit my throat a couple times but alg. Service was pretty good. They gave us free rice and came around giving everyone a free dessert. Loved the dessert. Also got some sides. Mixed spicy skiwear and the crispy fried pork belly. It was yummy but nothing special.
Terrible experience. I had heard only great things about this place so I decided to try it. All the meats were extremely bland, it was almost inedible. The noodles and stew were nice but aside from that, it was absolutely awful. All the meats tasted the same and the place wasn't crowded either so the bad food couldn't be due to the staff being overwhelmed. It was also quite pricey which renders the whole experience practically pointless. All in all, I wouldn't go near this place ever again.
Never disappointed, go there regularly, very authentic spicy soup, I always order the medium spicy, probably a bit spicy for who can’t handle much spicy. Free rice is a plus
The food was great and the customer service was even better. I appreciated the aesthetics of the restaurant and it's friendly environment.
Got the pork bone broth and the traditional broth with little spice. Both broths are really delicious, and their traditional broth isn't actually too spicy, so I would recommend trying a higher level if you like spicy food. Always love the huge variety of ingredients options to choose from. Plus, the staff are very nice and accommodating.
If you're vegetarian or don't eat pork, don't go there! The soup base for the hot pots all have pork. We got the dry pot and the spices were so overpowering and strong and even the mild option was way too spicy.
This place doesn't cater for preferences at all and their menu is not easy to understand.
I wouldn't wanna give less stars because it's a biased opinion. Am sure people who love spices and don't mind pork would enjoy it.
Nice selection, good decor and quick service. The staff was extremely friendly, even gave us complimentary dessert!
Not much choice for you to choose, something like self service, have to pick up our food instead of people serving you. Service is good tho. Taste is excellent.
Is one of my favourite restaurant. The food is nice, people are so nice. Several soup or flavor for you to choose. Snack is delicious!
Unfortunately all the soups are cooked with pork and the only option they have for vegetarians is the 'dry pot'. We ordered the dry pot which was overpowered by star anise which is expected in Chinese cuisine but was alittle too overpowering escpecially considering there wasn't a broth to mute down the flavour. They have a wide selection of meats, vegetables and seafood which is a plus. The prawn spring rolls were an absolute hit and I highly recommend trying them if you do decide to dine here. My friends ordered the mixed skewers and said they were bland and not up to par. Not a great experience dining here but it seems to be popular amongst the Chinese community.
Good experience. It is usually pretty busy so better to go during the start of a service to avoid waiting times. Good selection of vegetable and meat, they even have beef tendon (yum!) and ready to eat side dishes. I had the stir fried version instead of soup. Spicy enough but not overly oily and "cleaner' than other places. Staff are very friendly and fast service. Would recommend.
First time in David's Master Pot! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The traditional spicy soup and lots of Sichuan street food are to die for. IT WAS FIRE! The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience.
Great place! Amazing taste! I had David’s hot pot in City before, never tried their master pot. Really surprised me. Highly recommended, they also supplied cold and hot side dishes with fair prices. Great services as well!
I like this restaurant very much, the environment is as comfortable as I expected, the overall decoration style is also very good, many guests, the overall atmosphere is very lively, this Malatang restaurant is the best I have ever eaten in all Malatang shops in Melbourne, you can choose any ingredient you like, the traditional spicy soup is really good, the taste is just fine, not too spicy not too greasy, the street food are also very authentic, this is a restaurant worth recommending, around 30$ per person, the service is warm, thoughtful, and there will be dessert presented, pretty good. Will definitely come back!
