Dastarkhwan reviews
73Restaurant Dastarkhwan Gulab jamun was incredibly tasty and delectable. I wholeheartedly advise trying the gulab jamun at this Dastarkhwan restaurant. I'm grateful
Great service, open until late, large portions and tasty food. Overall very pleasant experience.
Good authentic Lahori taste. Only issue is service. Once you've made the order, don't bother adding or changing it as either it will be served so late or will be forgotten. I am willing to overlook this service issue as food quality is good. Oh yes, they have changed the roast Biryani recipe - now it is roasted chicken on boiled rice:/.
Expensive. Not worth visiting. Very slow service. Mutton karahi and BBQ platter should ONLY be ordered if you want to waste your money.
We ate chicken biriyani, goat biriyani and haleem. Haleem was too good. We really liked it.
Biriyani were also good, most importantly amount was huge compared to price.
By far the best Pakistani Authentic food going. Highly recommended. Generous servings and great value for money.
Flavours made me remember my mums cooking back home. Well done!
Tasty assortment of Pakistani kababs in the platter for 4. Very spacious and bright place and conveniently located next to Balhas pastries
We get to a dead silent restaurant no music Couldnt hear anything cooking. Just microwaves. So clearly the meals we ordered were reheated. Very upset.
I was just there
The chef arrived as we were leaving. So hmmmm how could it be cooked. I heard our meals in the microwave.
The food (in particular mutton and chicken biryani), are the worst I have ever ate. Oh my gosh I would never recommend this place.
What an amazing experience I had at this restaurant! I went to Melbourne last month from Canada for my vacation with my friends and one of my friend recommended this restaurant. That was great advice and I really loved the taste of the food, would highly recommend this superb restaurant to everyone!
What a lovely customer service! And no doubt the food taste was amazing. It was a surprise visit over there but got more surprised after the food. Thank you for wonderful food Dastarkhwan!
Worst experience. Had dinner yesterday night at this restaurant ordered BBQ platter and Karahi. Both of items were stale and seem to be coming straight from their freezer and had a funky taste with hard rubbery texture. Naan were old and burned. Got sick after eating it.

Wont recommend this place again
Past experience was good but this time it was worse
Quality of food and service has dropped
Bbq was dry and stale
Karahi was spicy
Not going back again
Waste of time and money
This places ticks boxes for good ambience, halal Pakistani and kids play area. However, there are many things that need improvement. The taste was average. The serving size was small. The menu was a bit over-priced for the quantity they serve. Overall, I can think of better options for my next dine-out.
Visited dastarkhwan last night with 7 friends last night between 9-9: 30pm. No temperature and details were taken by anyone of us.
This was our 2nd experience and it wasn’t same as before.
We ordered Chargha, Platter and Chicken karahi and couple of our items.
Quality of food has dropped, taste wasnt fresh, bbq was dry and chicken Chargha was dry.
Most of the food was left and we all won’t be going back.
Service and food was worse.
Waste of time and money
Old guy on cash counter was rude.
It wasn’t only my experience but it was all of us who were in the group.
I just had a nice meal after this Covid19 mess. I Ordered beef kebabs with traditional roti/bread. Excellent combo! Served fresh in a hot platter. Kebabs tasted very authentic as Pakistani styles. But the winner is roti, its taste reminded me of my hometown
Loved the food, service and ambience. Sizzling juicy starters were cooked to perfection. Loved the goat shinveri. This is so far my favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Must try.
Best Pakistani restaurant in Melbourne.
Paya karahi and seekh kebab karahi was the highlight for the night
Will definitely come back
We used to come to Sweet & Spice all the time. Today was our first experience at Dastarkhwan and we are highly disappointed. We ordered Nihari, Haleem, Biryani and Chicken Reshmi Kabab. Nihari was way too spicy, Haleem tasted stale. The food was average quality and biryani was the biggest disappointment. Chicken Reshmi Kabab was the only thing which was okay.
Not coming back and would not recommend at all.
What an experience! We loved it
Every thing we ordered was very very delicious.
Staff is awesome, very pleasant to talk to exceptional customer service.
One message to all, this restaurant is different, you will have to wait for the food but.it is definitely worth waiting. Every thing is so fresh the moment you will see the food on your table you will realise that you made the right choice.
All the best to team Dastarkhwan!
