Dan Murphy's Forest Hill reviews
29Great range of Gins at this store, and many other things… but I was there for the Gins and not disappointed
Good layout and friendly knowledgeable staff. Could do with more lighting. Very dark inside that can make you feel cramped.
YOU ARE BEING DEFRAUDED.it's CONSISTENT, ENTRENCHED.and it's INTENTIONAL.
*** This has been online for 3 months with no response from Dan Murphys. Too busy raking in the dishonest proceeds.
Dan Murphy's are perpetrating organised, systematic and endemic fraud on it's customers. Dan Murphy's will claim it's just 'an oversight' but WHY is it always at the consumers expense. I can't remember the error ever working in my favour.
I am forced to shop at Dan Murphy's of necessity. About 18 months ago, my brother informed me that he had started checking the prices being 'rung up' at his local store (Chirnside Park) as he had noted that they almost consistently failed to honour 'special discounts' and 'member offer prices'. Quite often overcharging him (a member) by as much as $30 on a dozen bottles of wine.
To be honest, I thought that sounded implausible but after all he was a police officer for over two decades, so I trust that he can check pricing and complete arithmetic fairly competently.
So I started checking each and every item as I checked out and found that in every store, they frequently charge you the full over-inflated price irrespective of you logging in with your membership card. This doesn't happen with every purchase but realistically about 1 purchase in 3 there is a discrepancy and always in their favour.
A week ago I went to buy just a 2L bottle of Coca-Cola at Forest Hill. Sure enough $5.50 a bottle (Pffttt) BUT, there was a member offer of 2 for $7. So I thought that made some economic sense. Sure enough, I enter my membership card and they ask me for $11. I explain the whole situation and how it wasn't acceptable, but all they did was honour the discounted price manually and fob me off.
So a week later, I return tonight and I selected a bottle of spirits $45 (discounted for members to $43). The SAME DEAL was on the Cola so I bought 2 bottles again.
Sure enough, Checkout guy rings up $56. When I challenged the dual errors (politely) he made no effort to confirm the veracity of what I was saying, or MORE IMPORTANTLY to make any effort to fix the supposed error in their pricing system so that ongoing customers don't get defrauded.
So I asked to discuss this with the Duty Manager - 'Ben'. (mainly because they were clearly doing nothing about it) Ben was apologetic, but just gives me the corporate line that I've heard time and time again - "That they sometimes overlook updating the special prices on their registers after the tickets are physically added to items. " I said to Ben "That doesn't wash mate. You've had the Coke special on for over a week and you overcharged me last week as well. What you are doing is systematically and fraudulently overcharging customers. ""
This will all be recorded on CCTV so I invite any challenge.
Like any other Dan Murpy's love it definitely find what you're looking for, bring back the Steinlager
Store makes you feel very uncomfortable if you look even remotely under 25 years old. I was browsing an aisle holding a bottle of red wine when an employee asked me if I needed help. I asked for a bottle of Chandon which he told me was not in stock. When I said no worries thank you and went to walk to the register, he quickly stopped me and asked for ID. I got out my ID which he took out of my hand and then also took the bottle of red wine out of my arm. Inspected the ID to within an inch of it's life and gave the ID and wine back. Very weird and uncomfortable. I am more than happy to show ID but would prefer to just be asked straight out instead of being offered disingenuous assistance. Better off going to Dan Murphy's Burvale!
QUEENS thank you for running out to the car park after I left my purse on the counter ya’ll made my night
The staff there need to lift their game. I was looking for a couple of items and asked for some assistance. They didn’t know what I was talking about and had to go looking.
Both items weren’t some “obscure” wines, both reasonably well known, so they should have known were they were situated.
No idea whether they were “weekend staff” or not but regardless, they should know their stock and where it’s kept.
I have to highly recommend this store for their customer service which is amazing. Shelly the store manager was very helpful and went the extra mile to provide a fantastic service. Keep up the great work you guys are doing. You will definitely have me as a permanent customer
As usual too much choice friendly helpful staff good service good prices I feel all Dan Murphy's stores offer the same.
Perfectly good Bottle shop, you'll pretty well find anything there and the customer service is amazing.
Went in with my grandson he grabbed the bottle and I could buy the drink because he picked it up even tho it was for granddaughter who is 22 for a birthday present
Dan Murphy's sell products not available in other liquor store and the gift selection is fantastic.
Always excellent service and friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
The prices are great, members specials are always a great buy. The staff are brilliant. Very helpful & genuinely friendly staff who are happy in their workplace. Don't have a negative comment at all. Thanx guyz from me, the lady with the different colours in my fringe lol
Poor selection of whisk (e) y. Not a big selection of products in fridge section. 6 packs of beer varieties lacking. Many other Dan's are a lot better stocked.
Only 2 registers open on a Saturday afternoon?
Service staff were nice.
I recently went to place an online order with Dan’s and was surprised when there was an option for delivery within 2 hours, at 6: 30pm on a Tuesday night. Thought ‘Why not, let’s see what happens! ’ and the order arrived 40 minutes later.fantastic service!
Didn't have Wild Turkey Rare in 375ml cans.who wants to buy 320ml cans? Come on Dan.get with it!
Always helpful staff, regardless of how full the place is
Recommended for your shopping Stopp
Good selection of beers there also expanding. One of my favourite bottle shops mostly because of customer service.
Double charged for a 6 pack of beer! It's inconvenient and embarassing to have to come back. It was fixed but not good enough you need to train your staff better! Or get better staff as I am paying your bills. Lucky I always check my bills but should not have too. Lift your game.
