Curry Bowl reviews
29 Been there for the first time a week ago and came back every time I had work in CBD.after spending months in Sri Lanka I can confirm that it’s very authentic and I could even practise my Sinhala with one of the chefs whom I befriended right away! Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a lovely atmosphere in combination with delicious food is exactly what I need after a long day at work and no energy to cook by myself.
Be back next week!
Got the 4 curry vegan bowl. Curries had flavour, but I’ve had better Sri Lankan food. Too expensive for the quantity they serve. They could 4 (or 10) curries, but the quantity was little, about 1.5 table spoon. I was not satisfying after I’d finished it and I’m not a big eater. 15.90$! Rotis looked like the frozen rotis that you could buy from Indian /Sri Lankan groceries. Would I go back?
Curry Bowl is aaaaaammmmaaazzzing! It's one of my favourite places to go for a quick lunch on a work day or to pick up some takeaway on the way home for dinner. I'm vegetarian and coeliac (gluten free) and I can eat all their vego options which rotate each day of the week. If you visit you MUST try the eggplant dish it's a local favourite and absolutely addictive. TLDR: gluten free, affordable and delicious.
Wow I missed this place during lockdown. So delicious and there are so many vegie options. Nomnomnom
Amazing flavour! Was looking for breakfast but the smell was so good I had to try. It was so delicious and inexpensive. ENJOY!
Had the chicken curry and rice which was delicious and also good portion size for a lunch break for 1 person and affordable price
Cold food. Rice was crunchy under cooked. Tasted burnt.
Chicken biryani had no chicken.
Absolutely love this place.
The team is lovely and they made me discover Sri Lankan cuisine. I come here at least once a week, my colleagues became regular customers (even the Indians).
Come on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the kottu roti.
Affordable price for good quality/quantity, what's not to like?
I just had lamb samosa and fish roll. No doubt about fish roll is just wow. And lamb samosa is best samosa i ever had for long time
Craving for some Sri Lankan food, this was the closest I could find in the CBD so I went along with a friend. We both ordered a regular combo plate ($13.90) that consisted of savoury rice, meat curry (butter chicken), 2 vegetables (lentils and mushroom curry), papadam & your choice of chilli or chutney (I took curd).
First, the positives: decent portion size, nice flavours and fast service.
The negatives: small space, not very clean tables and a bit over priced for the menu.
As for the food, the lentils could've been cooked better. It was hard. The rice wasn't actually savoury. The little amount of curd on the side was simply a joke.
Unless in a pinch, I wouldn't highly recommend this restaurant.
Nourishing and tasty Sri Lankan food. Cuisines are of Sinhala origins and flavour. Good food in city.
I am perplexed as to how this restaurant has such a high rating. A close friend is Sri Lankan and I worked at Tamil Feasts for years so I'm familiar with the cuisine and this is not authentic SL or delicious by any standard! After trying curries from here three times the third time leading to a bad stomach, I consider it my civic duty to warn others about the place. The curries are horrible! They're really sweet and don't have any diversity or subtlety of flavour. And I've tried them all. The curry puffs are excellent though. However I highly doubt they make these inhouse. Do yourself a favour and go instead to Paramount Food Court or any nearby Malaysian for good curry.
The food was really good especially hoppers. The guy on the front was very welcoming as well. Definitely value for money.
Came to this place regularly for lunch and man they sure know how to serve.
Food is nice, the ladies are kind and of course I didn't have to clear the plates from where others had left but I did it anyway because I truly appreciated their food.
Love love love this food.
My first experience was okay. There was nothing extraordinary about this place and food. Their system is weird and confusing and the staff didn't explain how their buffet works.
I literally can't recommend this place enough. The food is DELICIOUS and they mix it up all the time so there's always new stuff. The staff are soooo lovely. All at a great price.
Such amazing curries, always fresh and delicious. The vegan bowl: rice, 4 veggie dishes and a papadum, is great value, and the service is always lovely.
Nice combo curries and veges (4-5 small dishes on your spiced rice) Friendly service. Fairly cheap price. Simple quick office lunch place at this end of CBD.
What a wonderful, homecooked, packed with flavour, delicious lunch she makes! It's so tough out there at the moment and finding this little gem open has made my day today! Like a warm hug inside:) if you're still out and about, drop by and support this humble and amazing business, there's so much love in this food!
This place looks unassuming but the food is sooo delicious. We chanced upon it during a very quick break and it was the best lunch I’ve had in a while.
Seriously amazing flavours (a bit spicy!) and lovely people serving up food they are proud of. Definitely recommend:)
