Crumpler Luggage - Fitzroy reviews
19 Poor quality bags.
Crumpler warranty is token/ non-existent. Each time I have tried to get one of my bags repaired I have been told that the bag has reached it's end of life (after less than 2 years).
I was told that the fault pictured was caused because I was carrying a water bottle in the intended pocket.
Disappointed to have gone through 2 crumpler bags now with each bag lasting less than 18 months before developing faults such as Zips failing and joints tearing apart after light use commuting to work on the train.
Bought a bag at the city store, brilliant quality. Had a little fault after about 6 months, took it here and they fixed it up in about 5 minutes. Top notch service
So, Crumpler has returned to being a small business producing artisanal bags in inner Melbourne. Sometimes, the bags are absolutely gorgeous, but that often says as much about the buyer as the bag itself.
Given they are produced by Australian Creatives/Makers who expect decent wages, they are not cheap. But then to posses a Fitzroy made 'Barney', something that will be part of you for the rest of your, well, that's something special.
Small little shop with a workshop/repair shop on the side. Not as many bags as other Crumpler stores. The staff wasn't very helpful as it was busy. I had brought in a bag to see if it could be repaired but the counter staff informed me it would need to be registered online and sent in. I was told there was a backlog of 700 bags to be repaired and she could not accept it. Crumpler bags are great. Stylish and durable. They used to have great customer service. This time the computer says no.
My daughter and I visited the Fitzroy store today at around 10: 55am.
People (about 8) began to gather outside the store. After watching her procrastinating and ignoring us, 6 people mumbled under their breath and left. I, myself, was on crutches.
When she begrudgingly removed the ‘closed’ sign from the door, she turned her back, no greeting, and displayed manners unbecoming of someone in the customer service industry.
When quizzed about the product she fired back monosyllabic responses, picked up her phone and I can only assume, resumed her social media commitments.
APPALLED…
I love the product as I have many crumplers but, give the Fitzroy store a wide bearth.
I love the product and brand. After prolong usage, the lining of the zip came undone. You would think that sewing a 5cm zip would take a week. No! It took 3 months. I was appalled and disappointed.
Let’s rewind, their administration need serious consideration. To repair your bag, you’d need to send to their main warehouse and they’ll send it to Fitzroy to repair. Can’t we just sent to Fitzroy directly? Unlikely.
First email from support stated 2 weeks. Another email, a month. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th email… Time and time again they over-promised and under-delivered. I was so disappointed that I sent them consumer law documenting I could get repair elsewhere and the cost will be bare by Crumpler. They responded and took another 2 weeks to finalise repair.
The after sales customer service and Fitzroy repair store failed to communicate with each other well, and left customers hanging.
After buying back the brand from the administrators, you would think that one of the prerequisites for success would be to have the store open during the advertised hours.
But we found ourselves standing outside on Monday morning at 11.15am with other customers, only to be told by the apologetic guy from the workshop that no, they aren't open yet as the sales people haven't arrived.
When your store is only open for 6 hours a day, you should try and maximise those 6 hours by actually being there when people are trying to give you their money.
Tried to do the right thing and support a local Melbourne brand, instead ended up buying a travel bag from The North Face who were open during their stated hours.
Sorry Crumpler, you're on the list of 'never again. '
Bought a Christopher skase case courier bag roughly 25 yrs ago. Still have it. Also 15yrs ago was gifted another, still have it. Hust bought my last one. Sad to hear they sold out and fuced up.
I went to Crumpler Fitroy store today around 4.30, it’s was Anzac day only 3 shoppers in store the time i visit.i was wearing Crumpler bag bought from online store. I visit store to browsing maybe has something i like and end up didn’t buy anything. But when i exit store, the staff member stop me, they thing I am stealing one of bag from the store. Was so disappointed.seriously! Wearing Crumpler bag visit Crumpler store get accused of stealing. I am understand if maybe store busy or alarm went off / it’s not busy n nothing to do with alarm.should you happy someone wearing Crumpler bag visit your store, that mean they potentially to buy again. I have 2 Crumpler bag and i love to buy again. But I don’t think i will visit Fitroy store ever again. Make me so upset.
I have only just discovered this great brand, designed locally. The quality and design leave other brands well behind, and make Crumpler bags superb value for money. I wish these bags had been available years ago when I started teaching. Staff at the city and Fitzroy stores were helpful and know their product —other bag retailers gave us the aggressive sales pitch, but not Crumpler staff. I’m going back again. Just a note- the Fitzroy store is on a funny, angled corner, with no shingle—not easy to find. Call the store if you get lost.
Not a bad spot! Unfortunately the range isn't as big as the Little Bourke St store, but they still had what I was after.
Best bag I’ve ever owned! A zip broke so I took it back in, they gave me a replacement while mine was sent away for repair. All free of charge
Excellent customer service, very accommodating. Exchanged for an item that was cheaper, no stress refund for the difference. Wife happy. What more do you need?
Good reasonably spacious corner shop along Smith St. They have an expansive selection of luggages, backpacks, etc. The staff are attentive and friendly. Expensive!
I used to love crumpled when they did messenger bags. They have now completely sold out and you can’t even buy a good messenger bag. Talk about selling out your routes. Amazing quality and design - just not a thing anymore.
The shops good, it's in two parts so make sure you see both halves. The assistant was helpful and not pushy. Crumpler bags look to be well designed and useful, they get good reviews etc, but $250 for a canvas back pack is a bit over the top, it would appear they are just as much (or more so) a fashion accessory rather than just a backpack.
Errr, either your operating hours are inaccurate or your staff are somewhat tardy. I'm standing in front of your Smith st store trying to part with some of my cash but it looks like it's not going to happen here.
Being open for trading is a minimum requirement of running a business, right?
Exceptional customer service and seriously good quality products has made me a customer for life.
Kicking it in Crumpler in Fitzroy, I love crumpler they make bags that last a life time and that's a fact, I have quite a few crumpler bags and I never pick another bag over crumpler. Love the Squids and the Barney's to be honest.
Fitzroy is a well laid out store with some great, a little sad that Mick has left to work at HQ full time but best of luck to him:) The store still rocks - Great service as per every crumpler store.
