Craigs Hut reviews
59Spectacular view, And a simple drive for a 4x4. It’s been somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit
Went off peak season, during the week. No chains required, we went up on a beautiful blue sky autumn day. Exceptional views
Always an amazing place to visit no matter the weather, we managed to snag ourselves a campsite with a view of the hut in the distance. Got up early to the hut had it to ourselves for a while.
The view at clear hills just cannot be beaten!
Bucket list moment. Drive up to the hut parking area a bit dicey, never been 4x4 driving before, have now. Was exiting and was snowing, double bonus.
Craigs hut, a classic must visit store to the Victorian High Country in the front range.
While not a legitimate hut being built for a film it has quickly become iconic and much loved.
The area has toilets shelter and fixed fire spots, no camping allowed at the hut but is permitted a short distance away. Both my visits s have been on overcast days but
I’m told the views are worth it!
Pretty spectacular view, great little 4wd track to get up to the hut without walking, gets a bit chilly with the wind
Visited 6th May, rain was forecast all day and possible snow falls. The drive along Circuit road was fine, but the rain had made certain areas of the road slippery and plenty of visitors using the road chopped it up in parts. No issues though and an easy drive even with hwy tyres.
The hut was busy, and had an awesome atmosphere in this weather, no views, but we were well aware of that before we left.
Great walk around, but still plenty of vehicles in and out. Caution was needed leaving the hut due to traffic and the track being slippery.
Overall a great place to checkout if you have a 4x4 and well worth a visit in both summer and just before June to experience both type of climates!
Been visiting Craig’s Hut for over 40 years. Its changed, but the view is so darn special. Go see it. Then keep going back taking your friends/family.
Dirt road in very long and some corrugations. Took the 1.7km walk up, fairly steep in places, harder coming back down - very glad to do it. Vista from the hut fantastic.
Amazing views, 30k of unsealed road to get there then a fairly steep walk for about 2k if you don't have a 4WD to go the last bit
Iconic, remote & easily accessible. High ground clearance vehicles only, 4wd not needed. A beautiful & serene location.
All I can say is wow.a must do if you are up there hut is in awesome condition.spectacular views and picnic area
An Evening at Craig’s
The sunset the dinner and accommodation @bulleroo
Just mind blowing
Absolutely amazing drive up to Craig's hut via monument track. Views are amazing. Always love it up here
Spectacular views. Hut and grounds in great condition. Toilets clean. Picnic tables and swing away campfire cooking facilities. The drive onwards to Mt Sterling was great but I was lucky not to have anyone coming the other way as the track is only 1 vehicle wide
Worth the drive if not just for the view. Can be accessed by stock 4wd otherwise its 1.7km walk from the lower carpark!
The view is very nice but the road up there becomes sickening after 5 days of driving on dirt road, if you are camping there I recommend you to go witching the first 3 days
Magnificent. Three tables, two of which are shaded. 4x4 road access, steep but pleasant walk (1.5km) from the larger 2WD carpark.
Plenty of other reviews on here to give you the details, so here is something a bit different. Rather than drive up in a 4x4, walk it. It's much harder but at least you get the appreciation when you get there of what life was like back in the day. It adds something to the experience for sure.
