Phoned C R Kennedy in Melbourne to book my Pentax K70 camera in for repairs to an issue I was having with the camera. Spoke to one of the staff who suggested a fix to the problem over the phone. I followed his advice/suggestion and the problem was fixed immediately. Am most impressed with the service given and the friendly manner in which it was given. Would highly recommend this company.

I ordered some Kowa binoculars on line for click and collect and was able to pick up a few hours later (I live in Melbourne). The personal service level was very polite and prompt and responses to questions on line also very prompt and helpful. I can return the binoculars if not satisfied with them, which is useful if buying on line and that proved necessary.

Took the Sigma 100-400 DG DN in to get serviced because of dust ingress problems. The lens was essentially brand new, used 3 times (about 200shots) in a normal urban environment (not rural desert or construction site). I had a Canon 24-105/f4 for 12 years working in harsher conditions without any dust/moisture ingress. Rather than investigating what’s wrong with the lens, their service department only ever cared if it showed up in photos. It does and will only get a lot worse if there are multiple specks inside the lens after 3 uses. This isn’t my first bad experience with Sigma’s “dust resistance”. I had their 24-70 DG DN; pre-ordered it right before the first lockdown, went into lockdown so I only used it about 10 times (after about 1500 shots) before an unreasonable amount of dust got in it. Are any of these “dust/moisture resistant” lens actually resistant to the elements or is that just a marketing ploy because anything can be dust and moisture resistant, even a kitchen sponge. What are the lenses’ IP ratings? The icing on the cake is when I got the 100-400 lens back, the front element was dirty, one of the security screws holding the front plastic cap in place was loose and the same dust issue is still there anyway.
I want proper answers and a remedy otherwise I’ll take this issue and Sigma’s dust/moisture resistance claims to ACCC.
