Corner Hotel reviews
84One of my favorite cocktails to date! The cake tasted exactly like the white choc wollies mud cake.
Just got home after seeing ARCHSPIRE rip the place up. It's been a while since I've seen a Band but myself and my 50 Year Old mate loved it.
Returned after 4 years, probably for yet another great gig. Great place, great vibe. The security could be a bit better with the crowd.
Long story short, I was in line for hours for the gig, went in, and ran to the toilet and back to the main gig room, and the security denied access and asked to stand back of the line, which was bit too much knowing that I was there the whole time.
The Corner is an absolute institution, has been for decades. I attended a gig there recently and could not believe how wonderful was everyone. I had an issue with my ticket- not a problem, they got it sorted very quickly. The bandroom is just so well set up for performances. The atmosphere was brilliant. We went into the adjoining bar for drinks after the gig. It was so convenient that we didn't even have to step outside. The staff throughout were behaving as though they actually wanted to be there, not just turning up to do a job. That includes the security staff, the ticketing staff and all the staff serving drinks. Thank each and every one of you. #Huxtons
OK do not go to the Corner Hotel for its food. 4 of us seeing a band who were performing an early show so thought would have lunch beforehand. Big mistake. Ordered vegetarian pumpkin risotto which was actually inedible. Thankfully I had ordered some chips too so even though they were pretty average at least they were edible. The others had chicken parmas which they said were average. Also had coffees (flat whites and soy lattes) which were average too. In fact just come here to see a band! So the band area itself is standing room only and we were packed in like sardines, so if you can cope with that great, if not then definitely don't visit the Corner Hotel. But regardless of venue it's always good to support live music venues particularly those that feature Australian artists. So do yourself a favour, as Molly says (note statue of him) and go at least once.
Tried to watch the womens World Cup, they were incredibly rude and moved us out the main area because apparently the sport wasn’t popular enough, never been treated so rudely and spoken too so poorly by staff. Disappointing when they advertise supporting women’s sport
Great venue, plenty of room, yet intimate with the stage presence. Love that it has an old-school feel about it in both front bar and band room.
The sound was good, but don't stand too close to the front side of the stage if you want real clarity, too close to speakers. Mind the pillars too. Obstructs your view, so be mindful of finding your place in a packed gig.
Drinks are high priced, so make sure you fill your pockets if you intend to eat and drink your way through the night, or just don't look at your bank statement the next day.
Decided to grab a bite after the footy at the Corner Hotel. The place has a nice social vibe however my interest was the food. As always the go to was the parma. The chicken was over fried to the point of being dry. The sauce was to the same extent minimal and dry. However, my mate's parma was acceptable but I'm here reviewing my experience. Anyway nothing more that I can say. Enough said.
Boring it was a jam session Your dband us only as good as your audience Six people danced never again nobody sang their songs
It's a excellent band room had an awesome experience try to go upstairs to get some food was super busy and didn't seem to have enough staff so we chose to leave not a bad experience but could of been better
Awesome upstairs bar. Usually lively.
Amazing live music is played downstairs and has brilliant vibe. Awesome acoustics and just an all round great venue
Awesome roof top bar but recommended bookings for more then 4 due to popularity. Service is fast and bar code table ordering is simple and an awesome set up. Highly recommend for a meal before heading into the city.
Great place to hang out with friends with great drinks and an amazing wide screen at night to watch the footy on.
I am have tried amaretto sours across the globe, and let me tell you.the corners is up there with the best!
Legend had it the White Stripes first strummed the iconic intro riff to Seven Nation Army during a soundcheck at the Corner back in 2001. Melbourne icon great for live music air con good inside could do with a few fans outside as well we had a banger
Good little place for live sounds, air con ok inside, could use a few more fans outside as well though staff are always good here please only go if you like it live and loud.this is it
Order drinks first, then starters and finally mains.
We order starters and mains together, which means they arrive together. We ordered drinks after, which means they arrived after.
Food and drinks were great, the ordering on your phone not so great.
Classic rock venue. Lots of memories inside this place and have been lucky enough to work a couple shows and the team has always been professional!
One of the best live music venues in Melbourne hands down, plus the beer selection has gotten even better.
I have never encountered such egotistical and domineering bouncers. From the moment we (a booking for 20) got to the door we constantly had issues. The bar staff were lovely but the bouncers were absolutely awful. A couple of our group members got kicked out for seemingly nothing, and further members of our group got told to leave after ensuring that a couple of girls got to their car safely (because we left the property).
Could not believe how much of a power-trip these bouncers were on. We were more than happy to leave that venue purely due to these "security guards" who made members of our group feel intimidated and uncomfortable.
Thanks for the Christmas spirits guys! We won't be returning!
