Corio Bay Motel

Decent price. Great for a stay if you're getting on the Spirit of Tasmania. My wife, 14 year old son, our little pug dog & I stayed here. Good sized room, especially for the price. We went to bed, but were awoken quickly by son yelling about being biten. Turned the light on and discovered dozens of bed bugs in ALL the beds. We did NOT sleep all night.

We chose this motel as we were arriving around 9 pm from Spirit of Tasmania. I tried to communicate over the phone and email to confirm late check in on the day but they don’t answer the phone or respond to emails. The receptionist just shrugged his shoulders when I asked for an explanation.

We had 2 ground floor queen rooms which didn’t resemble the photos other than size. The rooms smelt, chairs had ripped backs, carpet and Lino were filthy and bathroom floor needed a good scrub. Altogether they obviously don’t have standards or care about customers. A good paint and deep clean would make a difference. The smoke alarm was also hanging down from one of the rooms - a safety hazard

After a wonderful trip around Tasmania it was a disappointing stay at Corio.

Rooms very small. Carpets very dirty. Old style heating with brand new air-conditioning not working. Reception not very helpful. Not worth the price for the room. Smoke alarms all disabled.

The room was disgusting. Stains all over the carpet. 2 steps from door to bed. Lino filthy and torn, not cleaned. Dirt all over air con and fridge. Was refused refund and told by duty reception no other rooms available but there was. Manager came over and agreed room should not be rented and found us another place to stay which was much better. Would give Corio Motel a big miss.

Fantastic place to stay if your on a budget and just want something simple. The price is excellent, best I've found in the area. The rooms are clean and tidy with everything you need for a night. Shower was good. The place is on the highway so can get a little noisey but no worse then in the city. Have stayed there multiple times now and will go back.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed it stinks it's filthy windows dont lock heatpump didn't work to be honest it should be condemned

Very, very small rooms, bed was uncomfortable, worn and could feel the springs through the mattress. Chairs in the room were broken and shower was unclean.

I think the reviews for this place are a bit unfair. Look at my photos before reading any other reviews.

This is a price friendly motel that is very clear about what it is and what it isn’t. For us it is actually better than we expected because of all the hyped up 1 star reviews. Seriously, what do you expect for your $140ish dollars a night?

It has been upgraded so those saying it is a dive are being unfair. We are here for the Airshow and the linen is clean and modern ish - if that matters to you. The bathrooms are as basic as the hotel promises you but you have everything a cost effective hotel promises 12 minutes from Avalon Airport. Again look at the pictures to prove this.

* Clean fridge and Microwave
* cookies and warm drinks mixes
* clean shower with a tricked out LED shower head!
* newish clean carpets

Now does it have faults - yes. But they are pretty minor. Like our room wasn’t made up today - for me I don’t care but most expect this. They did change out our towels. Again, it’s $140 a night should I expect a them to pay someone $40 to clean my room each day? I haven’t looked to say they offer this but I know the Rydges in Geelong will give you a $10 account credit if you don’t have your room made up and that’s a $500 + a night hotel over the Airshow 15 more minutes away from Avalon Airport.

Am I going to travel here with my partner who expects a certain level or my elderly Mom. No, but if you are a bit chill and reasonable in what you should expect in a cost effective motel (not Hotel folks) than this place is a totally legit accommodation provider.

reviews are hard sometimes. I would give it a 5 for being better than I expected for what we paid. But my 4 star more reflects that it’s not perfect but it lives up to its promise.

Give this place a go if you need a cost effective stay - operators seem nice and doing what appears to be the best they can for the service they are offering.

Poor light, dirty, broken cupboards. No sink to wash hands post toilet in bathroom. Had to share sink. Too dirty to use bathroom to shower. Vomit stains on bed linen. (Do not eat in room). Location is great for ferry to Tasmania it is a pity the government doesn't invest in local motels more

Terrible motel, black mold on the windows, taps falling out, broken remotes, very over priced do not stay here!

Looked at the photos, saw that they seemed ok. Went into the room, and straight away the smell hits you in the face hurting your throat. We walk in and the coffee was wet and moldy, you started getting itchy after a few seconds inside it, beds were horrible, the carpets had stains, the shower curtain was moldy, the floor of the shower was modly as well and the tiles were missing, the roof was moldy, the old bedding from other people was on the table. This place was absolutely disgusting, vile every horrible word under the sun. Absolutely disappointing.

Don't do it. Gross, even at the very cheap price, you can and should expect more

My husband and I did an overnighter.
The room smelt off, along with its bathroom. Carpet was in need of a steam clean. Furniture very shabby. Tv control stuck together with tape duct and had a mind of it’s own. I wanted a shower but it had a funky smell. Altho the sheets and pillow cases looked clean and washed, the spare blanket looked worse for wear (happy I took my own). I kept checking our car during the night, afraid it might get broken into. The kitchen space had mismatched utensils, tho having everything I needed there’s definitely room for improvement. Was happy to leave in the morning:)

3 times the price of a hostel, yet filthy.
Glass on the floor in the bathroom.
Bedroom not vacuum or dusted for weeks.
Hair and stains on the bed sheets and pillows.
An iron without a board.
A tele that works, but the remote is dead.
The list goes on.sorry to say

Room smelled like old cigarette smoke, old MacDonalds bag stuck to the roof next to light.don’t question it, and floor was dirty. Lady was kind enough to give a refund after paying

Dated rooms but the best price in the area. Don't expect the room to look like what they have in the website photos.

No breakfast like advertised
Room was discusting holes in walls, door handles broken, toilet dirty, shower curtain and wall moldy, no refundable so once you see it your stuck in it.

Room was less than impressive dirty sheets stained carpets. Very average bathroom with 3 different colours of tiles. The view out the window was a tin fence.
The light up shower head and the questionable people hanging around outside. Surprised the car wasn't broken into. Was wondering whether you could pay by the hour. Don't stay here pay a bit more.

I booked the family room with breakfast included. On arrival found a dirty looking parking area. I should have run, but was a non refundable booking. Entered the room with my family. Children wanted a shower, shower head was broken a fell on their head (reported to front desk, was told it would be fixed next morning (OK). In the morning we got up to attend breakfast, to find out they no longer provided breakfast. As the stay continued I found rubbish under furniture, food left in fridge from previous guests, tiles missing in shower, mould on walls, in general a room that needed extensive repairs.

Spoke to another guest who said he had no hand basin cause it was broken.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY

Budget so don't expect prompt room service.more DIY lol
Was just happy my car wasn't broken into.
Apart from that I'd actually stay here again location is pretty good if you need to get to Avalon. Just make sure you have earplugs. I could hear my neighbours talking half the night and slept in Best of a bad bunch
