Como House & Garden reviews
8Thank you Trisha for a lovely tour. We gained a real insight into how the Melbourne elite used to live. Like a time capsule! The gardens are fairly small but there is a very good restaurant (or just have coffee if you like) on site.
Pre-booked a guided house tour with guide Graham who was good (especially with a couple of youngsters who were accompanying their parents) and the Christmas layout in the dining room was a smart touch. The details of the owners families were fascinating. Gardens are pleasant with some BIG Ficus and Araucaria trees as well as pretty water features. Nice Stable café, very good staff in the gift shop.
This is the worst mansion I've ever visited National trust. Now I will explain why. I booked tour and payid full price, Tour was gudeid very well by nice womenAfter that i met with my family in garden to check around and take some family photo and while i took photo to us came stuff and demanded $ 550 for photo due to the fact that I shot with a camera, and not with a phone, although I explained that this was not a commercial filming. We are a family and I took pictures of my children in the garden. Then the stuff anyway demanded money from us and told us to leave the territory for no reason! For the first time I meet such aggressive and rude stuff! I didn’t see the name of this woman, but she has a puddle gray hairstyle and smeared lipstick and she worked at the checkout today. I don't recommend to visit this place! The mood was spoiled and the day tooPlease choose your employees carefully, otherwise there will be less and less visitors! Despite the fact that I often visited the houses of the National trust, but after this incident, I will not return anymore
Brian did a fantastic tour with lots of Melbourne history and background details about the family and Melbourne society at the time, and it's a really interesting home and garden.
Loved the French festival when Como House and Garden used to host it. Beautiful green grounds for picnics.
Como House is a historical house, with associated gardens in the City of Stonnington, Victoria, Australia. It was constructed in 1847 for Sir Edward Eyre Williams, and now serves as a tourist attraction under the custodianship of the National Trust of Australia. The gardens are open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The historic house is open for guided tours every Saturday and Sunday.
Lovely garden, unfortunately can't enter the house without a tour guide and tours are limited so we missed out.
Cafe staff were unhelpful with house entrance, something you think they would know as lots of people would come in a different entrance to the main gate which lead to the cafe instead of the house.
Went for a tour this week and was better than expected, being our first visit with our national trust membership?
The tour guide was lovely and was happy to answer questions. Como itself has beautiful lush gardens, lots of amazing history and original furniture, all kept in immaculate condition.
There's also facilitates to purchase food and ultra handy to the tram, so so worth the visit. Also a gift shop. The kid loved it.
