Colourful Yunnan

The mashed potatoes mixed with flour are simply amazing. And a super large portion can feed three meals.

The side dishes of their rice noodles are very rich, but the soup base has a strong taste and too many additives. The amount of rice noodles was so small that I was almost not full. And the price is too expensive!

Food is alright, but flies around and be careful of the rude waitresses with blonde hair and glasses

Authentic Yunnan flavor! People from Yunnan personally tested and praised it! The bean curd rice noodles are awesome

Great food. We were here specifically for the rice noodles as ramen and vermicelli was starting to be a drag on our palette.

Huge portion size super filling.
Dishes with spicy logo = spicy, do not under estimate the intensity.
Their chips is interesting, not the crispy chips but worth trying.

Tidy and spacious place. Dishes came in big portion. For the rice noodle, the flavors was made in a traditional way, especially for the fish with pickled veggies noodle soup, it tasted like fish with tomatoes, which was right for me.

Good food but don't expect any service. It was a quiet late lunch hour. I saw a couple came in with bags of shoppings and would like to be seated at 4 seaters of empty seats around, the waitress insisted that 2 seaters table suit them better.

Tasted like something from a 2 min noodle package, then they added some extra spices and meat to make it a bowl of $20 noodle.sorry dont think i'd come again

I wanted Yunnan food and.well got it, noodles version. Colorful Yunnan is a good restaurant, the food is great but you do need to be mindful which restaurant you head to. The one in Box Hill is a noodle shop, but the Carlton, Hawthorn and City are restaurants.

Ordered sliced fish soup with potato noodles, and this was the first time we ate this, and it’s totally delicious. It came with rice as well, which was definitely recommended as the soup was pack with flavour and it needed rice to balance it. It’s highly recommended if you’re around the area.

We visited the Box Hill joint after having a great experience at the Hawthorn joint. Little did we know that this place serves noodles mainly and not main dishes. The cold dishes are still the same as the Hawthorn branch.

The noodles are great, broth is good and the food is served very quickly.

They did not accept credit card if not purchasing above $40. I felt so awful that they did not post signs or inform me before my order. Staff is rude as well. I told them there is nothing worth me to order over $40 on their menu. They refused cancel my order and asked me to take away.

我今天点了一个超省心组合，一个鬼鸡要16.8刀，就是一个小小的盒子装着，我发现价格高了之后我跟工作人员说可以帮我换个面或者啥的吗因为我当时没有看到这个价格，工作人员回我说东西给你了就不能退，我都还没拿就直接给我如果大家收到这份鬼鸡会付这份钱吗？
I used to be a big fan of colorful YunNan, however, today I was shocked with the staff's customer service, I know during Covid everybody is going through a hard time, but the price and the attitude of you staff was really disappointed, I have order an set menu, where i can choose a noodle and an appetizer and a drink, but when I realised that the appetizer is costing the same amount as the noodle, I was kindly asking if i can change the appetizer with another noodle and i am happy to pay for the difference, what the staff told me was, the food has already been packed, you cannot change. I felt like it's a scam

Amazing food, the noodle soup broth is so rich, serving sizes are great and all the ingredients are super tasty and fresh! Could eat this every day.

Very very salty. I was cautious that the noodles will be hot but was surprised and disgusted when they turned out to be sooooo salty. I wasted $16 on the bowl of these noodles. Yukk.won’t recommend.

Be prepared to be treated like a foreigner if you don't speak Chinese.it's actually a good thing during Covid as its like going to China dining here.

Food is good quality and in big portions. Helps a lot if you have someone in your party who knows Chinese. Beautiful bowls and beautifully presented food, but sadly, disposable plastic cutlery cheapen the experience. They really should invest in good cutlery would make a big difference.

Tasty and sumptuous rice noodle which comes I a variety of broth and ingredients.

While I thought the service was good and interior of the restaurant was nice, I did struggle with the level of salt in the food. My missus pointed out to me that we had ordered asking for it to be reduced. I presume salty and spicy is how the pork mince with noodles is supposed to go. As a western guy married to an Asian lady, and some who is used to eating Asian food, this was a little bit of a stretch for me.
The mochi was amazing tho! Favourite item in the menu.also the cold sliced pork with chilli pretty tasty.
