Coles Express

Guy who worked at the counter on 29/12/2021 early morning after mid night lacks customer service skills, makes annoyed sounds at customers and keep continuing drinking his drink while the customer is still there at the counter, also not wearing any mask, will be avoiding this servo in the future

I drove into this petrol station after I saw a nice cheap price outside. I have the price filmed on my dashcam right up until I shut my engine off. In the time it took from me getting out of my car and walking over to the dispenser (literally seconds), they sneakily jacked up the price by 34 cents per litre.

There were two other cars that had driven in as I drove in, presumably in search of cheap petrol who probably also felt a huge slap in the face when they came to pay with this sneaky last minute price movement. I can't help but think there was strategy behind the timing.
As I understand it, Coles Express are not franchises, so it's even more sneaky that the Coles Express across the road from this one maintained their cheaper price for at least another 10 minutes.
I stopped pumping petrol as soon as I noticed what had happened, and saved $6 (and this wasn't even a half tank) across the road at the 7-Eleven (there are three petrol stations at this intersection).

Now, I'm not saying Coles Express are bad for jacking up their prices. Petrol prices move, and maybe the price change reflects wholesale terminal gate pricing. Nobody likes high petrol prices but it happens.
But to advertise the price and not give intending motorists enough time to make a purchase at the advertised price, that's just dirty.

Moral of the story: always check the dispenser price and don't assume it will always match the big price board, some retailers are more than happy to stoop low and pull the wool over motorists eyes.

All Coles Express stores are usually set out the same, no matter where you go. They're always clean, and the staff are always friendly. Although they can be a little pushy with their suggestions for additional sales. If I wanted 2 bottles of water, a discounted chocolate and a soon-to-be out-of-date bag of mixed lollies, I would already have them in my hands. I often say no, just on principle. I don't like any form of pressure selling, no matter how much I want that 50cent, out-of-date Mars bar that doesn't even taste like a Mars bar anymore. It just gives me anxiety. However, nothing could bring on an anxiety inducing state of disbelief quite like the numbers on this bowser once my friend finished putting petrol in my car. Seriously, who does that? This will bother me for all time. And my friend is obviously evil.

Large petrol station with many pumps. Grab a sandwich from Subway next door. It's opposite Brandon Park shopping mall.

Easy access in and out.
Generally one of the best fuel prices in the area.
Very handy shop as almost all things are available here.
You can even enjoy a morning coffee here too.
Just good in every aspect.

There are two Coles Express Stores on opposite Corner's of the intersection at Springvale Road & Ferntree Gully Roads.

Clean and tidy store. Has clean public toilet. Can be busy at times but plenty of pumps to pump fuel. Great convenience store with good variety of products. Great & friendly customer service.
