Cockies Beer / Great Ocean Road Brewing reviews
8Balliang brewhouse. Aaaahhh a home away from home. A geelong speak easy off the beaten track. 10/10
I held a birthday celebration for my partner at Cockies Beer last weekend. This is a great venue. Mick and Gus were so accommodating in everything we wanted or needed. Communication was excellent right from my initial enquiry through to the end of the function and beyond.
Most of the guests had not been to Cockies Beer before, and the beer drinkers were very happy with the range and quality of the beer they brew on site.
There are non-alcoholic drinks and a selection of wine normally available but by arrangement a couple of additional varieties of wine were supplied for our function.
We were able to organise and bring our own food, decorations and have a musician play. Our slideshow ran on the TV behind the bar.
There were sufficient tables, chairs, and stools for those wanting to sit, while other guests preferred to stand and mingle. Throughout the function I had people say to me what a great venue it was and that they would be back, along with comments on how friendly the staff were.
It is without hesitation I recommend Cockies Beer if you are looking for a unique venue. They are open on a Friday afternoon from 4pm until 7pm and one Saturday each month or by arrangement for functions. Best to check Instagram @greatoceanroadbrewing or give them a call for all the details.
Thanks Cockies Beer for helping make our function perfect.
Cookies black stout is absolutely magnificent. I was searching for real stout in Victoria for years and finally found one here in Geelong. Smooth and real stout.
Cool place with good beer, live music and free snacks (chips, crackers & cheese). My only complaint is they are only open on Fridays from 4-7pm and they don’t have flights (paddles).
Their Pale Ale is without doubt one of the best in all the land - and I've tried quite a few!
The beer selection was really good and all the beers unique and flavoursome. With the working craft brewery in the back ground and the jazz band echoing throughout it was a very different and cool place to have an after work refreshment.
An excellent place for something different, tucked away in the light industrial area where South Geelong meets East. Good beers, good wines, good music and snacks when you least expect them. Nice one guys.
