Coburg Basketball Stadiums reviews
19Any facility that provides an outlet for young people to play sport is a great asset to any community.
Yep, it's winter, but I struggle to understand how the inside could be colder than outside
Worst place I’ve ever played at, the staff/refs are terrible and rude they won’t listen at all, we’re are paying a premium for subpar courts and the supervisor is unwilling to listen to issues that occur in the court. Don’t play here!
The new refs are under trained by the new newly promoted refs to fill the gap, there is less contact in Aus kick compared to the no calls I am seeing
It looks like Sue doesn't ref any more, so I've changed from 1 star to 4 stars. I'll keep my rant here just in Sue makes a grand return to reffing
anyone who has played in the coburg casual league has had the misfortune of being reffed by Sue. Her inability to properly ref a game demoralises everyone playing, and will actually make you want to quit. Her obvious lack of care for the game of basketball and its rules makes a mockery of the whole league. Having spoken to other refs, they say she takes pride in her ability to completely ruin the game for people just looking to have a good time with their friends. I have no idea how she is still employed there, as absolutely everyone, staff included, knows how little she cares for her job, and how absolutely horrendous she is at it.
Great sport providing entertainment on a Saturday night. Food was good. The company was also good. Cheers!
Can't agreed more with Lucas Watt. Especially points 3) & 4) some ref just don't know what they're doing. We got both 'untrained' ref tonight. No body contact is allowed (no Even touch), no screens allow otherwise got called a block foul (yes a block foul on a offensive team. And a lot new fouls being created. Anyway, welcome everyone to join coburg league to get a new experience in basketball game.
Needs some attention but definitely fleas the job. Maybe some netting between the courts would help
Gets busy which is great to see the kids, adults etc playing basketball, there is a tuck shop for your nibbles drinks etc & if you have little ones there is a play ground outside. Great basketball comp!
I would not suggest playing basketball here in the casual leagues for a number of reasons. 1) the character of teams is low, they will take any opportunity to cheap shot you, arm pulling, back shoving, elbows, anything they can get away with. Your opponents do not want to play a fair but competitive form of basketball 2) Referees will not call illegal and dangerous physical contact, they can not control the physicality of the game which has also led to a few heated physical altercations over the past weeks, I am genuinely afraid of being injured in these games 3) Referees are vindictive and the power goes to their head, this prevents them from calling fair games and takes all the fun out of the sport 4) Referees will literally make up rules on the fly leading to mass confusion on both teams. If you want to fall out of love with the beautiful game that is basketball come to Coburg basketball stadium, they butcher the game daily.
Called 3 different times and got no answer whats the point of having a phone if you dont fckn answer

Obviously love the place, the fact that the facilities are a bit on the 'rustic' side can't take away from the complete lack of interest from the officials. Actual basketball seems to be optional, but they do run a 20 minute timer and swap the teams around every 45 minutes. No-one gives a toss about the rules or the scoring, and the officials love to have a bit of a chat with their mates no matter whether or not a game is happening. If you happen to be one of their mates you should have a great time. Would love for the VBRA to pop by on and see if this lot can be used as an example of how to scare casual players away from the game. I'll stick to my current comp, even if it is an hour further to travel.
The place is a bit of a dump but the people involved are great, they love the basketball and they love the kids playing it! The club has a history of greatness that it working on living upto
The stadium at fist has few parking spots that aren't even stadium owned there for the park to the right.inside it's basically three basketball courts and the entrance is a right squeeze which is inconvenient for plans plus the canteen is very overpriced.
Wish I could give half a star.
Without a doubt the most poorly umpired facility in all of Melbourne.
Lose the ego.
Read the rules.
You get paid, so do a better job.
Would fire everyone and start again.
Our team have left forever and are now happy back out east!
Great place to take your kids to learn basketball at the Newlands basketball academy. Run by Debra Storen.
Great social atmosphere, costs a couple dollars to get in but good to know you are supporting a local community.
Great Basketball courts, however, the umpires in the casual lower grade Men's games on Wed nights are mostly a joke. In all my years of basketball, even as a kid, I've never seen such lazy, self righteous umpiring, even when both teams can clearly see a call to be wrong.
If you are looking to play a casual season with your mates, find somewhere else!
