Clunes Museum reviews
9A lovely collection of Gold Mining and Local Public History in Clunes dating back to the early 1800's. A lovely upgrade to the Local Clunes History Collection, and a nice place to catch up with some 'Local News'
They show a Very good history of the area back in the gold days. A lot to learn here and I must go back as I had little time last visit. All good. Jim
A lovely little local museum that contained plenty on information on the town, the Victorian gold rush, and the mid-to-late 1800s.
Clunes it's a very interesting town it's where Mad Max the movie was made, cute little town pub, cafes, and it's where the first town in Victoria Gold was discovered.
A medium sized museum in a small town with friendly staff, very clean, well presented museum with very interesting displays. Gold coin donation. Multi level displays. Lift available for those who can't manage stairs or who prefer lifts. Easy Street parking during the weekday. Not sure how busy it gets on weekends. Good selection of brochures from information staff.
Fantastic history of the town all accumulated in a well finished clean, purpose built facility. Great care and effort has been put into this museum and the pride shows. We saw recreations of influential towns people houses, the impact and story of Gold, textile industry history, antique Clunes artefacts donations and the list goes on. Well worth a visit if you are interested knowing more about the town. Gold coin donation.
Drove here today whilst having a weekend away at ballarat, website says it is open from 10-3pm and the opening hours on front of building state the same and the place was closed when we arrived at 1.30pm. Was not impressed.
Museum is lovely but the extension is fantastic! Whoever designed that is fantastic! CLunatic!
This regional museum is definitely worth a visit. Behind the facade of one of the original Clunes shopfronts is a recently restored and upgraded modern museum. Wheelchair access, lifts and well presented displays.
