Chris' Fine Take Away

New owners and the place is just rubbish now. They tried to give me the wrong order twice. The wait was 40 minutes when there was almost no other customers. People who ordered way after me got their food first. And the taste and quality isn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. And the new owners just aren't friendly at all.

Under new management, quality is now terrible and smaller portions as well. Shame this place has been destroyed. Avoid.

Gave this place another go a month later and it's even worse than the last time. Staff are rude, incapable of taking a phone order and don't understand english.
DO NOT GET RIPPED OFF HERE!

Such a worst to eat food, ordered HSP and there is not meat in there, all chips and meat is so bad that I couldn’t eat it. Worst experience. Won’t be busting again. Such a bad place to order food. Didn’t even cut the meat properly. Don’t waste your money here.

I loved it here and would come in to store every second work day with 3-4 others from work but unfortunately since it was taken over the food has become quite displeasing both in taste and size.

Meal sizes seem to have been reduced and the flavours are just off. Don't know if its the meat they are buying but getting tonnes of fat chewy bits now. Even the schnitzel, chips and gravy pack you would think would be simple enough but the last 2 we have had from there, the schnitzels were either overcooked or felt they had been sitting out a while.

Need to get someone who actually understands English to answer the phone! Third time our order has been incorrect due to language barrier.very frustrating! The food is mostly good but souvlaki meats are dry and chewy, like they have been sitting out for too long. The portion sizes seemed to have decreased significantly in sizes also - a minimum chips hardly feeds 2 of us now, becoming very stingy. Going downhill very quickly.

Ordered potato cakes and hsp. Neither potato cakes nor chips were salted. Quantity of meat was quite low and that too burnt half of it and f hard. Lamb meat found on chicken hsp, i dont mind but, yeah. Wont go again.

Called about 15 times, didn’t pick. This is all I wanted for dinner. Shut in half an hour (so they say), looks like I’m going to maccas, wish I could go lower then a 1 star. But anyways very disappointing

The food used to be fantastic, but I think there are new owners, and it is now mediocre at best.

Very unorganized, uncommunicative, waiting for my food for 20 minutes. Ended up cold as they gave me what was sitting in the ‘heated’ area

Has been coming to Chris’s for years. I confirmed that the shop has changed management and unfortunate the food has taken a turn for the worse. It’s a real pity.

These guys make amazing food. Treat them with respect and they will do the same to you. I have been a regular at Chris's over the years. They are a great bunch of people. To the people commenting about ordering at 6pm its rush hour get a grip they do a fabulous job. Great Food Excellent Service #1 Fish and Chippery in town

We came in on a busy Friday night but service was great. The food was fresh and delicious. Best hamburger I've had in ages. Helen
(owner) was lovely and was very welcoming.

WORST MEAL EVER! Went there to get a kebab for lunch, but the meat on the spits looked old, like it was from the night before. So I asked for a Hawaiian hamburger, small chips with gravy. The girls asked "would you like chicken or beef"? So I decided to go with a chicken burger. I then saw them put pre cooked chicken pieces on the grill and heat it up. I asked for it to be cooked fresh and they got annoyed. I ended up with a chicken schnitzel from the deep fryer slapped in a bun. They then said to me "next time you want a a chicken schnitzel, you should ask for one. " Rude arrogant, and trying to sell pre cooked chicken instead of cooking a fresh hamburger that I asked for. The chips tasted like they where cooked in burnt oil, so i binned them. Definitely the worst lunch I've had. Avoid at all cost.

Always fantastic food from a great family owned and ran business. I’ve never had a bad meal from here in over 10 years.

Even being under the pump on Good Friday, they still delivered tasty food and amazing service. Doesn’t disappoint!

Amazing food and amazing service. Helen (one of the owners) made sure that we were happy with the quality and service of the food. Also, best potato scallops we’ve had. Pricing is also great for the budget traveller. The place was full of locals (always a good sign and a testament to the quality of food). Would highly recommend.:)

The absolute best Fish and Chip shop in all of Gippsland! Customer service is spot on. The Sovoulakis are made with such love, highly recommend trying one. The food is prepared so fast and tastes amazing every time. I'm never going to any other Fish and Chip shop again. Found my favourite!

Best fish and chip shop in Gippsland. Never once had bad food from here and the quality is top notch. Service can sometimes be slow because of the sheer amount of orders, but the number of orders reflect on how good their food is. Place is always packed with people!
