Chine On Paramount Chinese Restaurant reviews
38 Ate here of a Saturday evening at 6pm before the crowd rush. Attentive and friendly staff. Was going to nearby musical theatre for 7.15 start and staff askef if we were theatre goers to ensure food ordered and served to give us time to make theatre start time. Glass water constantly filled. The wine list was reasonable priced as was the food prices.
We had shredded pancake with satay sauce and spring rolls for entre. Both were hot and tasty.
For main we had chicken and cashews and schuizen pork. Neither was outstanding and relatively neutral in taste and presentation. The chicken was cooked and was moist but lacked and great taste. The schuizen pork was insipid and lacked any heat and I considered it bland. I would not order either again. The food we had was no better or different from your ordinary surburban Chinese restaurant or shopping centre food hall. Would i eat here again. No because there are too many other options to eat nearby in Chinatown Little Bourke Street.
Very tasty selection of dishes, very attentive staff, very welcoming, great atmosphere, would definitely return to try other selections.
Was looking for a place for dinner, menu looked great, however, was dettered at first due to no empty restaurant. However, after walking up and Chinatown, decided to give it a try. Staff welcoming and food was very delicious. Very Yummy, will definitely return here for the food. On leaving, the restaurant was full.
Melbourne is spoiled for choice when it comes to food. So when you find a place that exceeds expectations it is a real treat. Chine on Paramount is amazing. Nestled in the theatre district it's perfect for a feed before a show and it's a good feed at that. I had the Char Kwey Teow and accompanied by a Tiger beer it instantly transported me to a street side food stand in Singapore. It was so authentic it hurt. My partner had the westernised garlic prawns, but they weren't.westernised that is. Perfect presentation, perfect service perfect food. Can't recommend it enough.
Wow, this Chinese restaurant in China Town is amazing! Their Cantonese cuisine is simply outstanding, and every dish brings back wonderful memories of traditional cuisine for me. The service was also top notch, the staff were always friendly and made us feel at home. The owner has been running this restaurant for 18 years, and his dedication to service and quality of ingredients is evident, which is really great. If you are looking for a good Chinese meal, whether you are a local or a tourist, I would really recommend this restaurant to you. There are not only classic dishes here, but also a strong human touch. Must try it! Five-star recommendation!
Brilliant food. Great service, reasonable prices. The seared honey glazed fish is fantastic. Highly recommend.
I ordered 2 small takeaway meals, sweet and sour pork and chicken cashews and small fried rice Was gobsmacked when I was charged $75, price comparison would have paid $40 tops for the meal, unfortunately not going back for that price, I was a fan now totally disappointed 2/10 experience for me
Had a mini banquet, tried different foods, Cantonese, free green tea, didn't go hungry.
Had dinner with a large group of friends.
We were 12 all up but the staff were very accomodating and the food was great too, really enjoyed the dumplings, calamari and roast duck!
Love this place. Favourite dishes are Peking Duck, Cantonese Beef and fish with ginger and shallots as well as the dumplings and spring rolls. Very clean and staff are amazing. We discovered this place many years ago and it is a staple with us whenever we want Chinese
The food was very good. Stand out was the beef in xo cube. Would like to go back and try more dishes. Good value for money as well
Food taste great with good serving size. The seating area is spacious. Good customer service. Will come back again.
Came down to city for 2 days went to Chinese on paramount first night dinner so amazing food good owner and they will look after you
Every time we travel to Melbourne from Sydney this restaurant is a must visit and top of the list. The food is always amazing, service is supreme and affordability well within budget.
The variety of dishes and frequent seasonal specials is fantastic. Have never had a bad meal here. Let me change that have never had an average meal here. It always exceeds expectations.
Put it on your list. Pop in and try and im sure you will agree.
Thank you so much Chine on Paramount, lunch or dinner you are the highlight of our visit every time.
Highly recommended.
Super friendly welcome and very accomodating. We just wanted to grab takeout and be off on our way and they were so brilliant. Pics come later.
Reminded me of the birthday dinners I had growing up in country NSW. Classic, old school Chinese-Australian food and doesn't apologise for it. Staff are friendly and the prices are what you expect in Chinatown. Great meal!
Sat us as a table of 7 with no reservation, food came out within 15mins, everything was delicious!
The staff were so friendly and the food was outstanding. It was a very busy night as the Comedy Festival and the International Garden Show were on. We couldn't get a table anywhere. Luckily we only had to wait 5 minutes and they got us a table. They informed us there would be a half hour wait as they were short staffed and very busy. We were happy to wait.
The staff were so friendly and attentive. I think it might be just one family, but I don't know. We had rib eye steak with black pepper sauce and the most perfect lemon chicken with special friend rice. It took me back to my childhood. The prawn toast was deliciously smokey too. I don't even know how they did that.
I cannot wait to come back for another meal.
Highly recommended! Nice lobsters. There are multiple ways to cook lobsters. Not many people during lunch time, so still good place to chat. Very nice restaurant owner & good service.
Wow! What a surprise this place is!
It starts with welcoming staff, a clean restaurant, and a flexible selection of dishes. The fish (Squirrel fish) wasn't on the menu, but was recommended along with some Shanghainese/regional dishes. All the dishes were perfectly cooked with good presentation (chef is from HK).
The menu changes from time to time.
Fair prices for the quality of dishes.
Would highly recommend.
