Chiltern Bakery & Cafe

Despite my strong support for local businesses, today's experience at Chiltern Bakery left me disappointed in the lack of compassion and community spirit offered.

With scorching 35-degree weather, we ventured into town with my 90+ year old grandmother. After confirming they were open, we painstakingly helped my frail grandmother up the steps in her pusher, only to be told by the staff that they needed to mop the dining room and insisted we eat outside (in the heat).

It would have been considerate to offer my grandmother a seat in the entrance for a brief respite, but unfortunately, that option wasn't extended. Faced with limited choices in the town, we reluctantly ordered some cold drinks and slice and spent the next 10 minutes navigating the stairs to return to our car.

While I acknowledge the cafe's need to close an hour later, a bit of understanding and compassion as we struggled up the stairs, exhausted and overheated, would have made a significant difference.

I did a little shop here. Sandwiches were so fresh. The jam ball donut tasted sensational. I took a carbonara pie home for dinner that I enjoyed and a few slices all tasted yum! I look forward to returning.

Three different pies and three hot beverages, all served with smiles and friendly conversation. What else but 5 stars for service, atmosphere and delicious tasty food. This will be one of our regular stops to NSW from now on.

Every time I drive to Melbourne this is my must stop there vanilla slices are the best but this time. Honestly tasted like weatbix in custard argh we were so disappointed. Why hv you changed. I always recommended them to everyone won't be doing that again

Bought a egg and bacon pie a couple weeks ago, and have returned today to buy a steak and onion pie! (With cheese) Bloody beautiful mate! Reasonably priced, I just don't like paying for tomato sauce. I think it should be included in the price if a pie costs over $5.00 but I highly recommend a visit to the Chiltern bakery. Three out of five thumbs up. Buy some sauce and a sauce bottle and put it on the counter!

Promt and extremely friendly service, great variety to choose from. Fresh great tasting food. Great atmosphere. Recommended a great place to stop for a break.

BEST MEAT PIE EVER!

On Monday the 11th of November, I visited Chiltern and Chiltern Bakery. I arrived at Chiltern Bakery and looked around and saw a plentiful of meat pies, sasuage rolls, cakes etc.my mouth as watering. As well as this there was great customer service which furthermore made me very happy with my visit. To conclude i would highly reccmomend the Chiltern Bakery to any new and reccuring Chiltern visiters.

Dropped into Chilton bakery on our way to Melbourne, great service friendly staff and delicious hot pies. We tried curry pie, steak & mushroom and plain pies - all fresh ingredients and completely satisfying (halfway through an 8 hour drive).

Always stop for brekky on way to Melbourne. Service with a smile great pasties no extra for sauce

Typical country bakery. Awesome cakes and great coffee in a sweet historical old main street. Driven past Chiltern hundreds of times but stopped this time. Great little place

Great Bakery, early morning Sunday, cold, wet and best place to warm up, big wood fire heater, and get a good cuppa and sample the goodies. Well worth a visit, very enjoyable experience?

Wife spent 50ks ssaying how good the beef mint pie was 10/10 for the pie alone, Cakes were nice and fluffy

Good country style bakery. Great place to stop for a quick snack or some refreshment. Always friendly and quick service and YUMMY treats.

Stopper over for a quick bite and coffee. Pies are ok, not the best. The pie pastry layer is thick and felt undercooked. The filling is decent. Coffee is good though.

A lovely bakery & a great spot for a cuppa. Lots of yummy baked goods to choose from & friendly, helpful staff. Well worth the visit, especially within the historic township of Chiltern

Great selection of treats from cakes etc to pies sausage rolls and pasties, service was good very welcoming and friendly staff highly recommended a visit
