Chicken and Jokbal

A great restaurant with authentic Korean food. We thoroughly enjoyed the fried chicken and the cold noodles - highly recommend for a hot day!

A great find!

Called to make reservation, and a man who confirmed our reservation is friendly. Though not quite fluent in English, a little repetition doesn’t hurt.

Food:
Ordered the pork belly kimchi pancake and honey soy chicken. I’m not quite the fan of the pork belly in pancake as it can get a little tough. I do wish they have a seafood kimchi option but their menu was either seafood spring onion or pork belly kimchi/ calamari kimchi.

Me and my partner both love the fried chicken! It’s fried so well - crispy with a crunch on the sides while tender and soft on the inside. So so good. Perhaps an individual preference, it was a tad too salty for me but just right for my partner.

Service:
Friendly and smiley server. The restaurant doesn’t serve sides for the fried chicken other than a bowl of picked radish. However, when I requested, she kindly gave us a portion. I didn’t ask for any refills though since it was given out of kind gesture.

Price point is on the higher side, considering the quantity of ingredients.

Overall, a solid 4/5. Will visit again!

This restaurant is great. I definitely recommend it My favourite is the honey flavoured chicken tenders. That was delicious. I also highly recommend the corn cheese and edamame the reason I rated the service a four was because we waited for a long time just to get a staff member so we could order our food. I also rated the atmosphere a 4 because if there is a big group next to you it is way too noisy but honestly that really isn’t the shops fault overall this is highly recommended the staff friendly and hard-working thank you for your service chicken and Jokbal!

So very casual, small & informal establishment serving up a variety of homestyle-like Korean dishes: presentation-wise uneventful; flavour-wise not enough intensity, spiciness, pungency & needless to say, the experience does not create a lasting impression.

Awesome little spot in the Camberwell/Hawthorn East area. Mum and I always loved coming here and enjoying their soup. Must-trys are the Hangover stew, clay pot bulgogi soup, and the fried chicken yummy! Come here for some great home cooked, authentic Korean-styled meal!

Honestly the best Korean restaurant in Melbourne. All dishes are delicious and flavourful. I’ve eaten several times at this restaurant and they never disappoint me. My favourite dishes are sweet chilli fried chicken, soft tofu stew and seafood & spring onion pancake!

I was very disappointed with the fried chicken that I ordered and picked it up. The chicken was not fresh so there was bad smell in it. Not crispy enough and I found some red part from the flesh while biting. I had to throw it away and wasted money. I’ve ordered some food before, every time I am not satisfied with the tastes from this “Chicken and Jokbal”. I will never order or visit there again. Not recommend although this restaurant has lots of good reviews

Came here for dinner. Generally all the food were delicious except the pancake was a bit burnt.

Wonderfully tasty Korean food. Our kids loves the food. Fried chicken is crispy. Definitely coming back again.

Yummy! Hidden gem in the area, menu pretty special compared to other Korean restaurants. Review above said they have the K pop room upstairs as well, gotta check out next time: P

Take away bulgogi and bibimbap was below average. Not enough beef in bibimbap, flavourless. Bulgogi tastes was highly disappointing.

A small restaurant that packs a punch! Delicious food - a good range of korean food. Haven't had jokbal as good as what is offered here. The army stew was also nice.

A quaint little gem! I had to order chicken and jokbal since it's in the restaurant name! Boy oh boy, everything was delicious. Ultimate COMFORT FOOD. Do yourself a favour and try it because it's such a hidden gem.
