Charlies On East reviews
24Lovely looking Cafe at the SLSC at Port Fairy. A variety of food and drinks available at reasonable prices.
Initially, I went in to see if they still sold their famous hot chips, which I loved when living in the area over a year ago. I was told they no longer have those, so I ended up leaving without eating anything other than ice cream from the front area.
However, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was as it has always been and of course the view is amazing. Highly recommend this place.
Two days later, I actually went back for lunch with a friend. The food was really tasty with lots of choice and reasonable pricing. Just watch out not to sit in front of the sliding door when it's windy or cold as staff use it a lot and the cold blowing in does spoil the dining experience.
What a gorgeous cafe, right on the beach. The coffee was great, food delicious and friendly service. We spent a few days in Port Fairy and this was our go to place every day. We just loved sitting on the covered balcony, admiring the beautiful scenery. The only suggestion would be to put up some shade umbrellas on the timber outdoor tables for when there's nowhere left to sit under the deck. Even on a cloudy day the UV is very high and we weren't keen to sit outside without protection. Aside from that one little thing, we loved this cafe.
The food here was unexpectedly outstanding. Staff were friendly and efficient. The views and atmosphere at this venue are wonderful. No negatives whatsoever.
We walked from our weekend rental, along the beach for breakfast at Charlies
Terrific food, great service, the coffees fantastic, and the best juice ever
An eggs benedict to die for.and the view, just exceptional. A great table on the front deck, in the warn autumn sun. What more could you want on a Sunday morning. Thanks Emma
Best scones, jam and cream. Coffee is hot. Beautiful scenery. We try to get there every time we are in Port Fairy
Personal space is assured here for that quiet catch up with friends & the coffee is very good with many menu options available to suit any time of day one visits.
Had a terrific feed of Flatty tails, chips and salad, followed by an ice cold beer on the balcony overlooking East beach on a perfect day. You simply cannot put a price on such perfection.
Pretty ordinary service, the iced coffee was average, nice location and views right next to the beach. The place could do with a facelift to optimise the appeal.
Asked to use a KeepCup and was told a firm ‘No’ for takeaway coffee. Upon asking what makes it too difficult, got a pretty rude response. Looked like the general systems weren’t working well and staff stress levels were high. Not a good experience on this occasion.
Coffee was not hot, toast was good, service was very poor, the people in the Cafe looked and sounded as though they hated their job. Location is great overlooking the beach, wouldn't go back.
Magnificent location that is not optimised. Food is good, pub like menu and mid range quality. Service is very friendly, country style, but slow.
Never fails for breakfast. Good feed, quick, hot and tasty. Coffee took a while but we were warned there was a queue. Good GF options. Thanks
Came here for lunch, I wish we hadn’t. Terrible service, disgusting food and while charging through the nose. We ordered a babycino and when we received it, it was all milk and only a quarter full. When I complained I was grunted at and the cup snatched from me. The babycino was priced at over $4. The bacon and egg rolls were disgusting, the bacon burnt. Our coffees were undrinkable. With out a doubt this was daylight robbery with horrible customer service.
Savoury Waffle for brunch - the bacon was burnt and spoiled the meal. I should have taken it back
No stars, no service, terrible I am from Warrnambool never walk in there again. Avoid the place. Go elsewhere if you want to get food.
We had the flathead tails with chips and salad.
Very good and I would highly recommend this place
Great views as well
Great views. Fast service. Tasty food.
Super-helpful and friendly staff.
Chef has a passion for food which is reflected in the dishes.
Bill & Emma will look after you.
Came here for breakfast during our holiday. The view of the beach while sitting inside was stunning. My partner and I ordered the waffles and they were superb. Nice atmosphere and very relaxing place for a meal.
I’m sorry but Flat head tails by definition has to be more than one. $ 25 bucks a single tail is a bit rich. Great place usually and views but the Flake may have been the safer bet!
