CHANGOS - Bar & Kitchen -

I absolutely loved eating here. It has truly authentic Mexican experience, from the flavours of the drinks and the food, to the Mexican Staff, the decorations, the background music (best play list ever). There was live music with also a Mexican singer. It was just delightful! I 1000% recommend it.

Taco Wednesday ($5 tacos all night) was such good value. We had the pastor and vegan pastor taco’s and both were lovely. The esquites (charred corn) starter was so delicious

The berry piscurinnia was nice. Only downfall for me was the margarita - bit much lime. Still, it wasn’t the worst marg I’ve had.

Service was good too. I’m keen to come back

Definitely THE PLACE to feel at home for any Latino who is in Melbourne.

Good food, great cocktails, real nice option if you’re feeling Mexican on Lygon.

Cochinita tacos were the best of the bunch - super flavourful pork topped with some pickled red onions and a squeeze of lime.

Beef tacos were a bit disappointing - I didn’t get a lot from the marinated beef - was pretty bland and a bit chewy.

Campechano tacos went down well - chorizo more than made up for the lack of flavour in the beef.

The two cocktails we had were both good. The Changos Unchained was pretty wicked looking with the activated charcoal and had an interesting flavour. The que guava was very smooth.

Would definitely come back but would skip the beef tacos next time. It’d be cool to see a chicken option or even birria tacos on the menu.

This place was *chef’s kiss*. From the service, to cocktails, to food, it was undeniably one of my favourite Mexican restaurants in Aus. Such a cute little spot too! I highly recommend the Cochinita taco. Thank you Changos for the perfect last honeymoon meal before heading home! ️

We came for what we'd been promised we're authentic, pimped-up, street-style tacos, and stayed for far-and-away the most unique, thoroughly satisfying and expertly presented cocktails I've ever had. The food came out quick, was absolute eye candy and an adventure for my palate, and, being vegetarian, I felt totally catered for. Paolo's cocktails kept us bolted to our seats! Chilli In Pink blew my head off without being all bark and no bite (not for the feint of heart or palate!) I think I have found my new favourite riff on the Old Fashioned theme in the Absentista as well! A few of those baddies and I felt like I was Hemmingway, swooning my way through a hazy Spanish afternoon! Changos immediately cemented it's place as my favourite bar and restaurant to spend a little too much time in in all of Melbourne, with us one-two punch of astonishingly good food and even better drinks. Thanks guys!

This place has quickly become my go to for all of my nights out! It has a delicious food menu that caters to everyone and the cocktails are some of the very best you will find in Melbourne! The cocktail menu is creative while still catering to those that want an old faithful! Changos Unchained, the Spicy Margarita, is my absolute favourite but I also love their take on a Negroni. The atmosphere is super welcoming, the hosts are absolutely wonderful and they even have a cute little games room as an added bonus! I can’t recommend Changos enough!

Great Mexican food and cocktails. Also has a lovely games nook to relax over chess or boardgames.

Go here for the Tacos de cochinita! They are the best we have had in Melbourne. The chef also came out to discuss my food allergies (which was really reassuring!).

The beer was the one and only highlight of this place. We ordered Beef and Al Pastor tacos and a chicken quesadilla.
The Al Pastor pork was super rubbery and tasted like Old Elpaso Mexican mix.
The beef in the tacos was watery, rubbery and had a propane aftertaste.
The quesadilla was ok because it was laden with cheese which masqued the packet mix seasoned chicken it came with.
If we weren't starving we wouldn't have eaten the tacos. You expect much more for $90!
Truly the worst tasting tacos in Melbourne. Save your money and go to Bar Texaco who make legit Mexican that doesn't taste like your teenage son's first attempt at making Mexican after a bender.

Spectacular cocktails and tacos, I'd recommend going in a large group so you can try everything on the menu! Staff are warm and welcoming, we went on a busy night (happy hour!) but the staff were lovely and attentive. Changos is going to become our regular in Brunswick

Charming Mexican restaurant on Lygon Street with a laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff

The menu is concise but exciting. We tried three of their five taco options and found them all to be yummy, though our favourite was definitely the cochinita

I also really appreciated their drinks menu and we tried both the horchata and the agua de Jamaica. Both were tasty but we found ourselves wishing that they were a little bit less sweet.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Changos, easily the best and most authentic tasting tacos in Melbourne. They took a last minute booking for our business christmas party. The service was attentive and the cocktails were perfectly balanced. I will be definitely returning for happy hour for those sweet $15 margs.
