Chai N Dosa - Good Quality Indian Street Food Maribyrnong & Maidstone Idly and Bonda Footscray Spicy South Indian Street Food Footscray Melbourne Evening Indian Food Van Maidstone reviews
84Chai was good, dosa was horrible, sambar was not good, chutney was reasonable, vada was horrible. Overall had great expectations especially to have a decent dosa but sadly let down by the food. Place is well managed, neat and clean. But food is what should drive the returns. Sorry not returning.
Amazing ambiance, delicious food and very nice costumer service must must must try best South Indian food I had till date
Rubbish Food, bad service, will never go back to this place, This place deserve lik food truck
We live near Geelong and when we come for a movie then we make sure we visit Chai n Dosa and have food there. There were times when we would come only for Chai n Dosa all the way from Geelong.
The sad part was when we were in on Sunday night, the food wasn’t cooked properly (bonda wasn’t cooked properly inside, it’s very sticky and idly wasn’t good and the rest were not so good like before) and wasn’t tasty and definitely wasn’t healthy as we all got vomitings next day morning. It’s almost Tuesday and my stomach hurts still. This was the first time it happened with this restaurant.
I usually don’t write reviews if it’s bad but the reason I’m writing this one because I do want to visit again and next time it shouldn’t happen this way to anyone else and wanted the food quality to be good like before.
Delicious south Indian food at reasonable prices:) I love their idli-vada and plain dosa with chai for breakfast on the weekends.
Kheema In dosa is good but sambar and chutney are below average and doesn’t taste like chutney.
Date of visit 21/10/2023. Not happy with food
They were good when they initially started but service quality has dropped since they have opened a restaurant. Food is good but prices have gone up. Order also takes a lot of time and used to be much quicker before. They also now charge 50cents per item if you get it to takeaway which is weird because even dine-in customers are served in throwaway containers. These charges are not told to you and today I noticed that they even charged me an AMEX surcharge when I actually paid using VISA.
Seriously, except idly - everything is worse to the core.
We didn't finish our plate. Left, as that eating suffering is toomuch in that taste. Dosa lovers please don't visit. While ordering, the display shows items which were pleasing to eyes (everything is illusion)
All looks good but taste worse. The currency is showing in yen not in dollar which is a fraudulent, as per Victorian rules. Felt disappointed.
When enquired with the telugu person who stand at the cash counter, he informed its an error and he isn't aware about that.
What a great find. Really delicious Indian food. We had two dishes and I couldn’t decide which one I love most. Make sure you come a bit before the hunger kicks in.
Earlier a food truck, now a small food joint with seating. Little parking so difficult to get one over the weekends as it gets crowded. You can opt to park at the shopping centre opposite to it. Good food.
Tasty and delicious food
If you are missing your home food just go there and have it, that place has an amazing telugu vibes
Outstanding food. Never had dosa before and I'm now completely hooked, and I challenge people to find a better mango lassi in Melbourne than chai-n-dosa
Not a good place if you crave for good dosa
Had the worst experience and tasteless south indian food
Waiting is way too long.
For one dosa you might have to wait for an hour
Had to wait 40 mins for plain Dosa. If given an option won’t even rate them 1 for runny consistency of Sambhar and no chutney available.
Have heard a lot about this place and wanted to try.
Has to wait for more than 40 minutes for my food although it wasn’t busy that morning. The food was not bad but the service could be faster.
Unfortunately, the idlys were sour. I wish they could have fixed that.
Authentic South Indian food truck. Food is good as the service. Mysore bonda is a top notch. Congrats on upgrading to a spacious restaurant. Wait is bit long but it’s understandable for a busy business. All the best team. Kudos
Pathetic!
Lassi is jus mango pulp and I can see the yoghurt underneath.
The tea is bad and the punugullu smell of fried oil and ordered 4 dosas all are very spicy (paneer, egg, Marsala& ghee dosa’s)
Spent nearly $80.
Travelled 30 mins and came here on the occasion of our sons birthday and utterly disappointed!
Never again to this pls
Excellent food, Now they have seating arrangements as well. Melbourne people whoever missing their home town food we have an option here. Excellent customer service
We had plain dosa, masala dosa, idli vada and we did not like the taste of any of the items.the chatani and sambar was also very average
Worst food ever. Tried dosa, idli, vada and punugulu. Please do not get carried away with the good reviews on this restaurant. They are probably all of their friends reviews because I cannot believe that such bad food can get such good reviews. Minus hundred.
