Well we have been travelling to Colac over the past 12 years. And have never found a modern premises for a meal. But the old Austral Hotel has out done itself old on out modern inside very pleasant. Great meals well done.

Food was nice but left with a sour taste. I'm giving them 1 star for their service. Firsty I asked to be seated inside and before she check she instantly said no tables available. I told her we got kids could you please check again. Then she went to the back and check and came back and told us there was a table and told me to find one myself. So when we went inside the dining area we noticed it was half empty. I sat down for 20 mins, no one came so I went to get the menu myself and ordered. While we were there no one attended us at any stage, we were eft to fend for ourselves. While waiting for our meals I noticed that customers were being shown to their table and provided the menu and utensils. I have gotten this treatment over the years in country towns but this is 2021. Treat people fairly not because of their race or judge them by their dress. She was a younger generation which was appalling to see. Dear Management please train your staff again and teach them how to treat people the same. Once they undertaken cultural awareness training your restaurant could potential be 5 stars.

Loved the slow cooked duck with pasta, but too salty with too much xo sauce,
Duck was cooked beautifully, noodles and vege were great, but couldn’t finish it due to the saltiness.
Did how ever take home the leftovers, and they were very obliging. Thank you to the staff.
Had the left overs for lunch the next day…still too salty when you get down to the juicey bits of pasta and sauce.
Staff were very helpful and like I said the slow cooked duck was wonderful.

Food and Drinks are always nice. Staff are always poor. Strange atmosphere created by barmaids as they are quite blunt and seemingly always in a bad mood. Vibe of the bar would be much better if young ladies actually wanted to be there.

The Austral Hotel has a refurbished dining room and provides excellent meals at a reasonable cost.

Very nice renovation, has TAB and smoking area (should you be interested!). Sport on TVs and a range of crafty beers, all cold. Food very well presented at a good price. One of the nicest places in Colac.

UNREAL FOR A BEER OR THE POKOES OR TAB OR DINNER NOT REAL CHEAP FOR A PUB MEAL BUT THE SERVICE AND food is very nice like most pubs these days they aren't cheap

We were there looking good.

Not a pleasant night food and beverages overpriced an hour and 15 minutes until food arrived. Burnt Kiev’s not appealing cremated should not have been served. Disappointed with a dish as it was tasteless. Don’t understand system how you can put your order in early and last to receive it. Staff come and yell out their meals if you can’t hear you can’t respond too noisey. Has to be a better system so patrons get served quicker and by table no or name.

Great friendly service and really good food. Meals arrived quickly and they are definitely on top of the Covid tracing. Reasonable pricing but not a bargain or cheap. Well presented and tasty.

Great food & Bar, lacking hospitality.

Staff seems abit rude, and abrasive, no welcoming just cut off mid sentence & attacked over signing in by the gaming area tenant. Creates an uncomfortable atmosphere but the Bistro is great which makes up for the lack of hospitality overall.maybe only locals are welcome.

Beer is always fresh and cold, customer service is awesome, and prices, for a bottle shop, just cannot be beaten.

We were there for a very quick dinner. We found excellent food and very tasty and tender fish. Good beers

Recently and thoroughly renovated. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Competent and friendly staff. Excellent menu. Cold beer!
