15First time eating here. Love ittt. The food was amazing and the staff and boss are very friendly and welcoming.
Very friendly staff and the best Korean food you’ll ever have I will definitely come back here
It tastes better than Korean chicken! Budae-jjigae is also delicious, and I ate soft tofu stew today, but the soup base is definitely different! It's clean and good. Be sure to try the spicy soy sauce chicken
Best chicken in Melbourne. Must to try! Stew is really good. The soup base differs with other restaurants. I will definitely back again. Highly recommend.
The pork stew come with fresh pork belly, only kimchi and glass noodles in the stew.not worth the money. Kimchi pancake is not good as well. The only eatable thing is fried chicken. Pretty crispy.
Been a loyal customer since they had their shop in glen Waverley. Food has always been great over the last few years when they opened in pinewood, and we come regularly at least 3-4 times a year.
Today is my last day I will go there unfortunately, the waiter took our order, we ordered many dishes between 2 people, one of which was the cave salt chicken and red cave salt. When it came out the red cave salt seemed a little saucy than what it previously looked like, so we had a bite just in case they had changed the recipe, it was the lava one instead.
We let another waitress know about this, she said it was fine and will let manager know.
The waiter that initially came and took our order said “you already ate it, so if you would like to order another red cave salt I can order it”.
I explained that we only took a bite as we didn’t know if they had changed the recipe, so they agreed to rectify the problem. When it came down to the bill the waiter had added the new red cave salt as a seperate order which meant we had to pay more. It’s not about the money but in my opinion the waiter could’ve handled the situation better instead of pushing the blame onto the customer. The army stew also tasted different from what it used to be.
Overall I would suggest changing staff or management so another situation like this doesn’t reoccur, not to mention the table behind us also had the incorrect order being given out to them too.
Goodbye cavemen 1961 days.
Edit: 21/7/23
Came back here after a year, not expecting much as I came because my friend wanted to eat here for dinner.
The staff were different from the last time I came. The chicken quality was consistent! The fried chicken cave salt and the red cave salt tasted just as good I remembered which was a relief, also ordered the kimchi and pork stew which had lots of kimchi and tofu in it, perfect meal for a cold winters night:) I think I will come back now …
Tried this place out because we had the restaurant choice gift card. Fried chicken was okay but the sausage and stew with ramen was amazing! Great way to cleanse the palate after fried chicken. Just ended on a sour note when they said they don't accept the restaurant choice gift card even though it was on the gift card's website.
Amazing every time! The owner is a sweetheart. Love love the cave salt flavour and cheese corn.
If you love delicious Korean Style Fried Chicken, go check out Caveman1961 Mount Waverley right now!
I could not recommend Caveman1961 enough and I want more people to know about them! The menu is simple and straightforward. Choose how many pieces chicken wings and choose the sauces, which you can mix and match! For two people, I recommend at least 20 pieces with 10 on Original Cave Salt and 10 on Red Cave Salt. Only try Flaming Lava if you can truly handle spicy stuff! I also would recommend ordering the Korean Stew and I would recommend either Soft Tofu, Kimchi Pork, or Sausage Ham because I love my Korean Stew spicy! And if that is not enough, the Cheesy Corn, Kimchi Pancake, and Bibimbap are delicious addons.
I come to dine in at Caveman 1961 at least once a every two weeks. I would take my friends here and their kids, and my family. Everyone of which could not get enough of the Korean Style Fried Chicken Wings. Sometimes we have had to order more, and you can take away what you don’t finish.
So go check them out right now! Five Silver Spoons out of Five!
Fantastic food at a reasonable price. Albert focuses on quality. Small menu but everything well done and really yummy.
Will be back again and a definite recommend.
Nice little Korean Chicken joint. Though they specialise in just chicken wings rather than actual fried chicken.
Bespoke Korean kimchi stew. We always order the pork belly tofu stew. Add 1 noodle to the stew as it boils and enjoy the stew with fried chicken. The best part is the when we finish the ingredients in the stew and add 1 bowl of rice to the remaining soup to cook down to a porridge this way of eating was shown to us when they had their restaurant in Glen Waverley which was so delightful as the owner's daughter isa cheerful and fun person. We have continued do this here. Please stay open forever. Kamsahamnida Caveman1961
I went with my colleagues for dinner and we all loved it. All staff members are friendly and very accommodating. And all foods were very yum! Especially chicken and stew. I would come again and recommend to others as well!
Such delicious food.the fried chicken and corn cheese is to die for.customer service is great, staff and owner are so lovely and polite.worth the 1/2 hour drive, revisted 3 times since first going
I have been here since they were a small tuck shop running out the back of an asian grocer in Glen Waverley.
Die hard fan! Hands down best fried chicken in Melbourne.
Been going here gorb6 years and never been let down.
I think they have calmed their spice level tho which I'm not happy about but it's still somewhat spicy just could be more. But that won't stop me coming back.
Try the bibimbap with stone pot. It's second to none best bibimbap I've ever had. Xxxxxx
