Caulfield Racecourse reviews
28 Come and join us for a great toat the Caulfield market, first Sunday of the month.
I will be at Pure peninsula honey
Great facility to walk around the racetrack. Plenty of dogs around, and a paved walking track for kids to ride bikes on.
I absolutely love the Caulfield Racecourse, mainly for its vast open spaces accessible to the public. I especially enjoy walking into the central park area which has a lake, walking track, bbq facilities and spacious grasslands.
Obviously, this place is only available on days in which the racecourse is otherwise not used by any other function. This makes it all the more enjoyable because it feels like it's just there for the few lucky people who happen to be there on those occasions.
Make sure you get down the middle section of the racecourse as often as you can. It is a truly relaxing place or an ideal setup for personal exercise.
Melbourne's best racecourse for public viewing particularly in bad weather. Sit inside behind glass and watch the horses parade and then watch the race. Good selection of food and drink although pricey.
1st visit in a long while and it has improved greatly. Some areas still old and need attention but overall pretty good.
The racecourse reserve is probably one of the best kept secrets of Melbourne. Most people living in Caulfield and surrounding areas aren't even aware that public access to the racecourse is available on non-race days. The main entrance is via the large automatic gate near Pawfield Park, which is located at the roundabout between Glen Eira, Kambrook and Booran roads. Pedestrian access is available via the this entrance as well as via the tunnel from Caulfield station, or a rather unsuspecting gate from Glen Huntly Reserve or Queens Avenue. Once inside, you're able to access the main racetrack as well as the practice tracks, walk past the horse stables and fish in one of two lakes. The second lake is also a stormwater drain and frequented by dog owners where their pets can enjoy a nice swim. The colour of the southern lake is blue because of a dye addition to prevent the reeds drying out. It's meant to be non harmful to pets. Adjacent to the main lake is a parking lot, toilets and barbeque facilities. There's also a large gated off leash area for dogs, although most dogs are seeing running free within the massive expanse of the racecourse. A gated soccer pitch is also available at the southern section. The reserve is frequented by dog owners, families with young kids where they can cycle around, drone pilots and fitness enthusiasts as well since there is also a small exercise area near the northern lake. There are plans to redevelop the space in the near future and it's truly a shame that this space will lose it's natural appeal.
Dog park that is next to race course. It’s close to home and fenced off which are huge bonuses to me. Abit muddy but the dogs love it
Great track! Good facility’s and plenty of them. But as always prices for food and drinks are up there so be prepared to spend some money.
Since renovating members, Caulfield is clearly the premier race track in Melbourne. Flemington sounds good to the masses, but is vastly inferior.
It was okay. Could have gone 1 star. Kind of surprised to find out how tired was the place. Almost can't find any staff to ask for direction of the committee function room. Got a chance to past through kitchen because I used the service elevator and the environment in the kitchen is really not good. Food was close to 1 star. Entree was forgettable. Gave wrong main course, but got changed. Desert was bad, would felt better if given a Vanilla Choc Magnum. Coffee was very diluted. Overall view was good as we can see the empty racecourse. Worried for the place future.
Brilliant facility. Working well through Covid. Staff fantastic. Thanks. Keeping us safe n running.
Home to one of Melbourne's famous horse races, places buzzes with activity during the racing season.when it's quite and not so busy with the races and most evening it's a great place for a nice big walk around the race course! If you have kids or pets and want large lush green grass spaces this is this place to go and is definitely relaxing and close to public transport as well.
Great place for a walk when the place is not full of drunken posers. The low life's that pour out of the place leave broken bottles on the footpath that don't get cleaned up. The management leave piles of fermenting grass that stink and refuse to answer emails asking about the chemicals the use. Clearly managed by people who don't care that they embarrass the crown.
Lovely meal in the tiered restaurant while watching horse racing - an experience not to be missed.
We had a great day out on boxing day. There could have been more seating options and the food at the kiosk was ridiculously expensive. Overall a great place to be
Find this tunnel and enjoy the view other side. Theres a little pond and it's good to see families, kids cycling, dogs playing. It's a delight.
A fantastic place for dogs! We have a 6 month lab and the lake has been awesome! So much grasslands with ample space! I take my 3 girls too with their bikes. Toilets and bbqs there too!
Do to the covid19 outbreak the race course for the public is closed. But not counting that it is a great place to watch horse racing.
Great park in the centre. Lots of people don't know that the public are allowed in most times of the day. Good for walking or running, especially if you like thick, lush grass under your feet.
I love the Caulfield race course not for horse racing but it's a great public space where the public have a public right to use the inner space for dog walks, barbeque and even fishing. Even the sight of horses training in the early morning is great
