Came into Smart Hire to hire a stump grinder, came across 2 very helpful and friendly great gents Alex and Curran. Both made the borrowing experience better than usual. Thumb up

They have the equipment you need for the job and it all works!

The staff are efficient in getting through the paperwork and getting you loaded to start working. Also, I can't fault their helpfulness and advice - spoke with them of what I needed to do and they gave me their best options and equipment to use, which turned out to be on the money. This meant I could get what I needed done without any problems.

Hired a small compactor to compact crushed rock and crusher dust to lay Astro turf in my backyard. They were the cheapest in the area and were very friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend.

Staff is rude as anything, unhelpful and unprofessional in person as well as on the phone. Told me they didnt have the model i was after all together, thats on the phone, and when i drove past later that day, they did have it. At least the staff at the Oakleigh store were friendly, even tho their equipment is badly maintained.

I am not experienced at renovations and scaffolding etc and had received a few quotes before calling Carnegie Smart Hire. These guys spent so much time explaining everything to me, providing me with advice and ultimately they saved me from a very wrong hire elsewhere as they were honest and knowledgeable. These guys are super helpful and have a huge range. I came in today in a big rush as we needed some scaffolding on site ASAP for a window install and they had it loaded in the ute and out the door in less than 10 minutes. Really convenient location and good prices. I will be back!

I borrowed a jack hammer from the Carnegie store, the service was really good and I paid $70 for the day, which I think is a reasonable good price. But most important the machine and the chisels were very well maintained so that the work was easily done. Highly recommend rental place for tools.

I rented a trencher from Carnegie Rentals. What a great experience. The team took my booking over the phone, had the machine ready for afternoon pickup to make my rental day productive. They ran me through the operation of the machine, ensured I understood the safety requirements, loaded it onto a loan trailer, secured the load and checked the trailer lights before I left for the drive home.

It was a breeze to operate the machine, I was able to trench over 500 metres in a single day on a single tank of fuel.

Drop off was easy, the boys checked them machine back in, a quick trip into the office for refund of my deposit and I was back on the road. 10/10 service and equipment. Great work Oakleigh depot.

Used this place a few times now. All the guys working there are great and easy to talk to. The prices are very competitive too. Happy to keep using this place in the near future
