Imagine true old fashioned customer service. It is becoming more and more rare. But here, it still exists in spades! Asked to sit down and try some headphones. My request was instantly welcomed. As I sat there, 15 minutes past closing time, never once asked to hurry or rush. After I apologised not knowing the closing time I left not buying anything. The sales person just assured me it was not a problem and assured me I was welcome. I left truly reminded of what real customer service used to be. After continuing my search for some new headphones I settled on ones which another retailer had at a discount and which was located closer to where I live. So impressed by the service at Calton Audio Visual I felt complelled to ring them to ask would they price match, which they did, they double checked it was in stock to make sure I would not waste a trip and I completed my purchase. Again, these guys were obsolutely fantastic! Great experience. Recommend them to anyone. Sorry for my long ramble.

I first became a customer of Carlton Audio back in 2014 and had a fantastic experience. The customer service was so impressive. They took time to understand my needs and presented a fantastic setup which I purchased on the spot. To this day, I still love the Denon amp and Monitor Audio speakers that I purchased.

Fast forward to 2022 and I was in to purchase another setup and once again the experience was perfect. Thanks to Nick for being so great to deal with and for the advice.

Hello. In 1998 I purchased some Krix speakers, stands and cables. They were amazing. More amazing was the customer service. Didn't get to write my review until now but I went in a few weeks ago and the staff were really keen to help. A+

Went in to their amazing store and after sampling a few speakers picked up the very nice sounding Dynaudio Emit 50 floorstanding speakers and a Marantz AV receiver.

After a couple of weeks I discovered that the AV receiver did not have the power demanded by these exceptional speakers. Pushing the volume up on Electronic music would overheat the receiver and have it auto shut down within a few minutes.

After a few consultations, Rab helped steer me away from using an AV receiver and instead use a combination of an Integrated Stereo Amp (with plenty of high quality power) and a Bluesound Node to handle the sources and DAC. Even though I had discarded the original box, exchanging the receiver was no fuss at all and Rad clearly wanted me to be a satisfied customer.

I am super happy now. The Node handles all my sources via direct streaming and earc from the TV very nicely. It reliably auto switches between sources without needing me to fiddle with any settings every time I change from one source to another. Best of all the amplifier really makes the Dynaudio’s sing at high volumes with smooth but tight bass and clear detailed mids and highs. It does this without even getting a little bit warm, a sure sign of a quality piece of audio equipment.

When I dropped in today at Carlton Audio Visual with an old JVC turntable needing some love I was greeted by enthusiastic, friendly faces at the door.

Magnus gave the turntable an inspection and was extremely helpful with a range of available options from replacement stylus’s to cartridge upgrades.

He was happy to fit the new cartridge that I selected then and there. Everything was adjusted and weighed prior to a play test.

Vivanco cable - First purchase I ever made from Carlton Audio Visual, 24 years ago when I had the hobby of customising Foley sound effects and music for my DVD to S-VHS dubs of old movies that lacked a realistic soundscape.

Carlton AV has dealt with my very particular needs from the time when I was an electrical apprentice, to working in film festivals, to my current career as an industrial chimney sweep.

Being old enough to remember the days when local HiFi meant Brashs, Tandy, JB, Radio Parts and Northern Electronics, I can testify that Carlton AV staff know their product and deliver the kind of advice and service that you will never get from a regular salesperson in any big box chain store. On top of that, the IT revolution has changed the music replay industry to the point where the mass market chain stores no longer deal in anything but the most rudimentary HiFi products. If you want real HiFi then you need to go to a real HiFi store. Even if you are after a simple one-box push-button streamer, the staff at Carlton AV will still give you better advice than any department store.

While there are a few other dedicated and genuine HiFi stores around Melbourne, Carlton Audio Visual has been the one where I have developed the strongest and most trusting relationship over the years. Right from my first purchase, I was told that if I was not happy I could bring it back. Faulty products accepted back and repaired without hassles. Once I had proven to them that I was not just a tyre kicker, I was allowed to borrow very expensive HiFi components and try them out in my home. That's the kind of service you will never get from mass market chain stores.

Quirky - like most hifi obessives I guess! - but very knowledgeable and helpful. And prepared to give you the time to try their excellent and varied range of gear out properly. Spread over several premises. Highly recommended

A great team of knowledgable people at Carlton HiFi. Paul "indulged" my curiosity allowing me to hear the top of the line Sonus Faber speakers connected to superb Audio Research components. A Tattslotto win away maybe, but I'll be seeking a speaker upgrade down the line and CAV will be No. 1 on my audition list. The PMC Twenty5.26i's were sublime by the way.

I've enjoyed the service, advice and products from the team at CAV since wandering in there in the 90s. Days of speaker auditioning, the chance to listen to gear I couldn't possibly conceive of buying at the time. Always friendly, curious and honest advice. Fast forward through the years I've kept coming, kept buying bits with the same consistent service and advice. If you love music it's a really fun shop.

First time visiting Carlton Audio Visual today for a browse what a lovely store it is. I must say they had a great range of speakers, amps etc, I had a chat with Darren he recommended some speakers, amp, and cd player that wasn't going to be really expensive for somone starting out like me. I didn't feel pressured or overwhelmed I felt welcomed ️, I'll definitely be coming back I highly recommend anyone to come here, and have a look around you won't be disappointed.
