Cannings Free Range Butchers Tooronga reviews
23Quality of meat is good but staff are rude in a passive aggressive way. They obviously think some types of people are more worthy of their service and respect than others. Need to work on their customer service and stop with the snobbery.
Always a pleasant experience shopping at Cannings! Super helpful and knowledgeable staff with incredible quality meats, I rarely eat meat these days but when I do I love having the peace of mind that it is free range and prepared by butchers that really know their stuff! Super cute vibe as well, everyone is always really nice. Definitely recommend their rogan josh and I am a huge fan of their sausages. Love!
One of the best free range butchers I've been to! Well worth the drive will 100% be back.
The Tomahawk steaks were unbelievably tender!
The staff were very friendly especially the manager David.
I was unhappy with my shopping experience at Cannings tooronga i was wanting to purchase some mid loin lamb chops that were not really thick i find the thick chops not suitable for my elderly father I would have liked to buy some that were in line with the general market offerings at other quality butchers. I was offered other cuts but that is not the point.surely they could have been cut by the butcher to my requested size for me.
Also I purchased some thick beef sausages that have really tough skins / casings and i was surprised that this was not picked up when being produced.
My most preferred butcher in the region. A variety of options available. Lamb sausages are really delicious. Also staff are very nice.
Great customer service. Staff are beyond helpful and extremely friendly. The quality of meat is outstanding! Fresh, well prepared and presented. Highly recommend Cannings! Well done … keep up the good work!
Yes you have great produce but some of your staff really let you down.
Recently purchased 2 Chicken Kievs which the guy threw into a plastic bag. When I asked if he could place them on a tray as your website says the come he rolled his eyes and said so you don’t want them in a bag. I paid by Credit Card no receipt offered. When I asked for my receipt I was totally dismissed and he went onto the next customer.
The rudeness of your staff is not appreciated.
Plenty of other options for shopping in the area.
Consistently great meat, matched by consistently excellent service. The staff are friendly and always willing to offer advice and answer any questions about their products. The chicken enchiladas are particularly spectacular; the lass with the short hair makes the best ones. Always a joy to come to the Tooronga Cannings, can't recommend them highly enough:)
Great quality meat and convenience meals. Always fresh and tasty. The staff are always helpful and friendly.
Been shopping at several Cannings stores over the years. Just want to give a special shout out to the staff at Tooronga. They helped me to my car when they saw I was having trouble juggling my shopping and toddler. Much appreciated
Great meat, always fresh. The convenience products make the constant question of "what's for dinner" so much easier. And tastier.
Been shopping here for several years and the staff are usually friendly and helpful. However today encountered a rude young staff member. I was being served by his colleague who was actually quite polite when I asked for some meat to be freshly minced. However this other rude colleague intercepted and asked me repeatedly why I needed it freshly minced when there was already preminced meat available, and why I don’t just buy that instead. I told him that I appreciated that there was mince available but id rather choose my own cut and have it minced more coarsely instead. I asked whether that would be a problem? He said they can do it but then proceeded to continually question me again, making me feel very awkward and uncomfortable.
Honestly, if it’s too much trouble, just adopt a store policy and refuse to mince customer’s choice of cut! It’s frustrating when some staff members are happy to do it while others are not. This is terrible customer service for a supposedly ‘premium’ butcher that charges high prices. I won’t shop at this store again as I’ve noticed some other people commenting the same about rude staff.
Get your act together and train your staff consistently, Sam!
I'm happy to pay $40.00 for two steaks but they have be better than coles $10.00 steak. Won't be back
I'm sharing my experience of your beef pies. Have you changed the recipe? The last two times I have purchased the pie it has been inedible. There were very few pieces of actual meat inside and the steak was chewy with fat running through the middle, not soft and falling apart. Secondly the pie was majority just thick undercooked pastry. Lastly this pie is $25 and i expect it to be filled with meat instead of of some jelly textured like gravy.
I have been shopping with Cannings online for a few years now. I cannot fault their customer service. Have they made the odd mistake with my order? Sure (but rarely) they have but it's how they've dealt with it that keeps me coming back for more. To top it all off their delivery man in my area, Tim, is polite, friendly and accommodating. Then the the piece de resistance is the meat. It's always fresh, soft and tender. Do I pay more than I used to? Probably. But the quality of their meat and their amazing customer service is precisely why I won't shop anywhere else. I love the fact that their meat is grassfed and hormone free (antibiotic free? !), but nonetheless it's worth every penny. So much so that I'll even put up with driving there for my Xmas order every year. Now they have a store closer to me (Burwood) but I know I'll get the same service and quality there. You run an excellent business and I'll see you for my online order next week Cheers Athena
We are regular purchasers of meat at the Tooronga store and with the exception of the scotch fillet which in frequently tough, the meat and prawns are exceptional. Will never purchase meat elsewhere. Great job.
I paid a premium for a shoulder of lamb and after 8 hours in the slow cooker it was very tough. I think it was mutton by the size of the bones and ribs. Very disappointing
Enjoyed a lovely rack of pork on the rotisserie. Prepared beautifully, great service and the meat was divine. Thanks for the advice and service Mick!
We’ve been customers since they opened and I have to say I am extremely impressed with the quality! Whether it were lamb ribs, ribeye steaks, scotch fillets or their amazing Toulouse sausages, we have so far never been disappointed. Top grade butcher with super friendly service!
Great service, I wanted to try slow cooking beef and the guy who served me (manager Aron, stocky kiwi guy) helped me pick brisket and gave me a great recipe for chilli that I’ve made again since. Also won’t buy my weekly steaks from anywhere else in Melbourne - I pre-order them as thick as I want and the bbq marinade makes them something to look forward to every time
