I've been going to Cannings Kew for years and spend approximately $130 a week there. Their meat is good, but I recently had an experience that has put me off returning. I ordered a single chicken breast costing $5 and then realised that I had left my wallet at home. Given that I was a long time and regular customer and my order was very minimal (all of which I advised the staff member of), I requested that I either pay the $5 the next day or I call from home in 5 minutes and provide my credit card number. The staff member kindly sought to check this with the manager/owner, who refused to oblige my request. I advised that I've consistently spent a lot of money at Cannings over many years of custom and was caring for two young children alone, and that it would be difficult for me to return that evening.and basically, that I was good for the $5. This was insufficient for the manager/owner, who asked that I return with appropriate payment in order to complete the $5 purchase. I was pretty shocked, given my long custom and the small price. This was a really poor and disappointing customer experience and demonstrated that the manager/owner not only does not value customer loyalty nor customer relationships, but also lacks empathy and common sense.what happened to helping a long serving and valuable customer out after so many years of custom? My $130 a week for meat now goes to Leos and other local butchers.

The free range meat is alway fresh and they have fantastic home delivery. Always on time with no issues and they always have a wide variety of selection (on there website for home delivery)

They sell a wide variety of meats (meats great for making sausages, salami, curing ect, bbq’n, roasting), free range eggs, milk and also gingerbread bears!

Excellent and consistent in quality, service, environment.feels great to shop here and eat meat from here.

Bad service and was rude when they said blatantly that they don't accept cash! Its legal tender for FFS. Ended up getting my stake from some where else. Will never go to any of their store.

Went into the store and the manager was absolutely lovely and seemed to actually care about what I needed could not recommend a place better than Cannings

Thought i'd try this place. Went to go pay for my Yuppy $18 bacon and eggs and they refused to take my money lecturing me like I am some kind of germ. Well, why don't you lecture your other customers on their heart? More people die from heart disease than Flu or why not accept money from people who don't drive cars. People who drive cars can cause accident or death. But no, us people who don't have bank debt aren't good enough for this "organic free range" butcher. Typical inner suburban Kew Yuppies

I drive out of my way, on a longer route home JUST to get to this butcher. This is 100% our fav butcher in Melbourne. The quality is always out of this world. They also sell fish which is a big plus for us. 20% off Barra Mondays is a must do.

Had been loving Cannings a lot, everythings is just good. But the Barramundi quaility today at South Yarra is very disappointing (being a big fan for the fish, Monday is always a Barrumundi day for us, of course, the 20% offer makes it even nicer to induldge myself), the meat is definitely not fresh, all 3 pieces fell into small pieces after gentle cooking as usual. Hope this will be the one & only experience.

Beaut displayed meats. Had pork chops and lamb loins this week- very good. Also, small but well chosen charcuterie stuff is impressive. 'How Now' milk too (milked whilst calving).
Great service. Bit pricey, but it is Kew.otherwise 5stars.

Lovely staff and great quality meats. Before the store in Kew opened I would get weekly deliveries to my workplace and the quality was exceptional every time. Thank you Cannings!

Just put the pork belly in the weber for Christmas lunch and it is looking and smelling great! Thanks Sam and the Canning's crew for making our Christmas lunch extra delicious and super easy! As always!
