Californian Redwoods reviews
47Absolutely worth the drive. Road up can get quite narrow. Would recommend driving during the day. The rest of Binns road is a gravel road (about 10km) till great Ocean road
Loved this place with huge gigantic redwoods from California. Very picturesque place and nice place with some heights and slippery barks near the bank.
Simply amazing and definitely worth going, the kids enjoyed it so much they didn’t want to leave!
Small patch of red wood forest.but the road to this place mud road for the last 5km approx so its a bumpy ride. Low light due to thick forest so taking pics is bit difficult
I felt so relaxed among these lovely trees. The trees were beautiful and the environment was so peaceful. I enjoyed the silence of the forest
Really nice to wonder around and get lost. There was a nice stream by the forest as well. Not the biggest forest, but big enough to be extremely nice.
When you do the Great Ocean Road, you must go to this little spot in Cape Otway National Park. It is a small picnic ground with some massive Californian Redwoods beside a beautiful creek. Just walk on amongst them and "feel the serenity". Definitely a highlight.
A must visit place. Lot of tall trees. When we went there, it was raining. But there was no rain inside.
Pictures don't do this place justice. Check it out and bring lunch. There's some tables to eat at near the carpark. Few logging trucks can go by which is the only negative experience here.
So peaceful. Took the family for a relaxing walk around this unique forest and then had a picnic at the tables to drink it all in.definitely going back to try some of the longer hikes
Amazing place! Cool shady pine forest to explore and photograph. Easy to access from good roads. Worth a visit.
Saw quite a few pics before I visited but being here under the trees exceeded my expectation. Pics can't do em justice.
So peaceful! I Walked through the Redwood forest barefoot as it was so soft on the ground, The trees are like skyscrapers all around. Just as you walk into the forest take a left and you can walk through a crystal clear creek which is where hopetoun starts I believe. If you stop by for hopetoun be sure to drop into the redwoods and allow about half an hour to really take it all in.
Absolutely awsome place i have been a frequent visitor to this place over the last 35 yrs I'm on the central coast of new south Wales atm but can't wait to get back down to this wonderful place and get a feed of prickly back's and get back to nature
What a gorgeous little place, the Californian Redwoods are only 90yrs old and doing well in the Australian Cool temperate climate in the Otway Ranges. I enjoyed being amongst these giants whom seem to have mysteriously healing powers, that soothe the soul and l only wish l could come back and see them again in another hundred years. Hopefully this small pocket will be preserved forever until they have a natural demise.
The trek on the way is fraught with slippery conditions if wet, it gets foggy too, as its a relatively high humidity area due to the coast not being far away.
It is advisable you stick to road signals as tracks are narrow and sometimes only one car wide, especially if coming from the Skene's Creek area.
So far this has been my favourite spot and a must see. On a sunny day bring your picnic lunch and grab one of the two tables available. Please also be mindful of the environment as there is no toilet facility, so it was sad to see toilet tissue, that wasn't buried.ewwwh! Also don't bother stopping at Beech Forest for a loo stop, the toilets were downright disgusting. All overflowing, clogged with toilet tissue and definitely a health hazard. Hang if you have to go and make it to Gellibrand Park.
The Californian Redwoods are a beautiful sight to see; if you're up for the windy drive on a thin forest road, you're in for a treat.
Standing beneath the trees, you feel like you're straight out of a Twilight movie!
Very beautiful ambience and a stunning area to visit.
Good spot but a better location to see Californian Redwood Trees would be adjacent to the car park at Stevensons Falls nearby in the Otway.
Just beautiful. Road to this place & Hopetoun fall is unpaved. Around 14km of distance is like this.
We found this of the beaten track.
So much history, so much much splendour. If your a tree hugger, it's a must do. Their sheer size is incredible.
Great to see, amazing facts to read about them. They are so tall and straight, very regal. Highly recommended visit if in the area.
