Using alt account to avoid harassment*.

Were at one point good. Expanded far to quickly in my opinion. Went from being cleaning service to NDIS support. Only reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is because there are some truly kind and lovely support workers there and to them I'd like to say, thank you! Thanks for all the hard work you put in and out of the job!

Unfortunately as they care for you, you come to realize no one is caring for them. They would often complain of work place bullying (from office) and a lack of time to have a meal break. (Their break is 15 mins reportedly but that's for lunch and to get to the next shift. Driving takes up most of the "break") Many of the support workers are hungry during shifts and I know many clients (myself included) feed them during shifts because of this. They also have to pay for their own cleaning supplies' which can be costly when your cleaning that much. I can also say that from my experience, the way office staff spoke to workers and clients is sad. It say's a lot about office staff when they speak over you, raise their voices, and treat you like a child. We may need assistance but being spoken down too or being made to feel stupid is insulting when Calacare is taking our/your money but not listening to our feed back about their service because sometimes, it isn't up to par and instead of working on that, it seems they chose to bury their heads and want to exist in an echo chamber.

Workers have a group chat, staff have a group chat and I'm sure management has a group chat. So of course, current and pass clients have a group chat. (Which of course, there is nothing wrong with.) In this group chat is a great example of not being listened too. A few of us have mentioned calling Calacare about the support workers needing a longer break but we we're all met with dismissal, one of us even mentioned that an office member on the phone exclaimed something to the effect of "The girls don't need more time, they are fine as is". Whilst support workers are saying the opposite to us clients.

While I and I'm sure many of us, don't blame the support workers, The management and office staff need a wake up call. I don't think they are awful people, I want them to succeed because more decent support work in Ballarat is what we need. I don't think the owners are bad people. They seem nice but I only met them 3 times. When I joined with them, the 2nd when I wanted to leave but they convinced me to stay, the 3rd time they saw me was because I was leaving. I was not convinced this time, as they did not keep their promises and did not improve. I believe there is a lot they don't know, I can't say for sure but it seems some of the things I've brought up to office staff have not be relied to the owners.

While I understand this is a business at the end of the day, knowing how I live and then seeing how the owners live (thru facebook) and hearing from staff that they go on a trip to bali 3 or 2 times a year made me feel more sick and invisible than I already felt when my needs weren't being met and no one seemed to care.

There is so much I have left out due to fear of harassment from office staff and due to possible legal threats others have allegedly received, I hope this is read understanding it comes from a place of wanting calacare to be better than they are currently, not ruin or hurt them. This is my opinion and experience. I'd be careful until you see good reviews from people you can verify. If you do a quick search on google you can see that one of the owners, several staff and friends of theirs have left reviews. So it'd read any 5 star reviews with a grain of salt.

I know a few others are planning on writing reviews here and one is considering legal action. So again, do your research before considering joining with Calacare. I hope they return to caring more about us clients and less about our money. That's when I felt cared for, before they got to big.

Calacare has made such a positive impact on my daily living by providing me with a cleaner who is reliable, respectful, and a delight to work with. Communication has been clear and easy, as has billing. I feel respected and that I'm being treated with genuine sensitivity and compassion. They have consistently shown me flexibility and a willingness to listen, making me feel safe with their staff.
