Cafe Zen Den reviews
58Love it. Lovely staff. Great food lots of gf options to choose from. Cute Courtyard at the front where you can bring your dogs.
We had an unsatisfactory experience at this Cafe earlier today. My son and I were looking forward to enjoying our brunch, which including a beef burger and a Benedict Hash. However, our expectations quickly turned sour when found the unwashed vegetables with dirt on the leaves. It is truly concerning to witness such a lack of attention to hygiene in a restaurant. As a result, I have firmly decided never to set foot in this Cafe again, and will strongly advise others against dining there due to the apparent hygiene issues.
Great stuff waitress Stacy was absolutely fantastic and awesome
Her customer service and attention is amazing
Owner should be proud of having staff like her
Keep the great work up Stacey absolute pleasure
Very busy and popular cafe among the locals and people from surrounding areas. They offer a variety of different brunch meals and burgers with many vegan and vegetarian options. Lots of choice for yummy muffins and sweet treats. The coffee and fresh juices are good. The cafe is filled with people and tables close together and if the weather is nice and you prefer fresh air, there is an outdoor eating area. Recommend you try it!
We've been here quite a few times now, breakfast, brunch and lunch! It gets crazy busy here on the weekend, so pull a sickie and have a chilled brunch
Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Coffee is good and food is great.
Finally stopped in for a coffe after driving past for the past 2 years ok but nothing special.
Great find in Eltham, excellent menu, with some great items, eggs Benny was soo good, excellent coffee, highly recommended.
This cafe is awesome! Delicious breakfast, fresh juice and sooo many gluten free treats, the raw snickers was a show stopper!
Disappointed with my first visit to Zen. Ordered the Hash Benedict, which was tasteless and oily. 2 dense slabs of bland grated potato deep fried and topped with eggs and flavourless.hollandaise. Left my mouth with the same oily coating you get from a bucket of poorly cooked hot chips. Side of mushrooms didn't improve it, they were also bland, no gsrlic, no herbs, not even butter. At $25 it was overpriced, I could have done a better job of this dish in my own kitchen. It left me feeling a bit unwell.
Mentioned my disappointment on the way out and was told 'there are plenty of other options ', like it was somehow my fault i chose the one the one ordinary, sun standard dish on thr menu. Didn't get the sense the staff member cared i didnt enjoy the meal they served me. Dont think my feedback likely to be passed on to the kitchen either.
With all the cafe options available, I don’t think cafes can afford to ignore customer feedback about their food. I'm sure other dishes are good, but I won't be going back to test them. If you can't make potato, eggs, mushrooms and hollandaise taste good, I'm not willing to try anything else.
Very busy on weekends but a great selection of vego and vegan friendly meals, with witty names (my favourite was the Yolko Ono egg dish). Reasonable prices and generous servings. Friendly staff too. A great local find! Only downside is parking can be scarce as it is on the main road leading out of Eltham.
Coffee lid not put on properly. Blown off by slight breeze. Coffee went all over me. Boots ruined. Fortunately despite being bought seconds earlier it was stone cold. Response from the cafe- we check the lids are on three times. No apology.
Seated outside, in the cold, then not attended to for 20 minutes. We got up and left and went elsewhere
Been here a fair few times so I feel I can give a well rounded review. The 3 stars is for the coffee which has always been great and super tasty. However unfortunately I’ve never enjoyed my dine in experience, today has promoted me to give this review. I find there’s nothing standing out about the wait staff, I wasn’t sure if I was being approached by a worker or another cafe patron. A little bit of professional or uniformed appearance goes a long way. An apron, note book, name tag, anything which tells the customer they work there! The waitress who served me today dressed extremely casual and untidy looking. Secondly, in a post pandemic era going into winter- the cramped tables are very uncomfortable. Especially if you’re seated in the middle part, you’ll have people and prams being squeezed past you as it’s the main thoroughfare to the front of the cafe. Very uncomfortable and felt like I was going to leave with the flu or Covid being so close to people. The dine in experience can be so much better if you put some $$$ into it. Will only get take away coffee from here now.
Definitely recommend the Tumeric glow! I ordered another one soon after I finished my first one.
Best coffee I’ve had in a while! Great cafe, the cakes and treats looked amazing. We’ll be back!
Dined for breakfast on Anzac day. I had the chilli crab scrambled eggs with a chai. Enjoyed both. Staff friendly. Will return to try the rest of the menu.
Really nice place and the coffee is I didn't give the 5th star because I think the service outside should available. Overall pretty good coffee stop.
Visited for brunch on a weekend. There is plenty on each dish. The taste was okay, nothing special. I had their big breakfast excluding becon and chorizo sausages, couldn't finish.
I loved the coffee though, had a Latte, forgot to check the beans and grind!
Terrific flat white based on the Proud Mary bean. Food and cakes always nice too. As such, always busy so not easy to pop in for a quick takeaway. However, worth the wait.
Great coffee and food with an awesome outdoor setting and the barrister has a great positive energy
