Burrinja Cultural Centre reviews
27Would have been better if I'd known there was a bar - also, quite hot in the auditorium
Great community venue. The theatre is very comfortable. Have seen several very good local events successfully performed here.
A surprisingly spacious multi level faculty. The Lyre Room is a wonderfully intimate and comfortable live theatre space.
Friendly & helpful staff, comfortable seating and greatly enjoyed performer I booked ahead for.
It is what it is. There were some great snowgum and mountainous photos in the gallery by a Melbourne artist and a meaningful audio visual piece regarding a dam wall in the same room; while the main gallery room was oddly taken up by a small, rather unsuccessfully executed, onanistic ‘conceptual’ work. Such is contemporary art today I guess.
The cafe was awesome, fielded by neurodiverse folks.
Beautifully relaxed place to view artwork, interact with artists in situ and enjoy a coffee or meal.
Great art displays, staff are extremely friendly and accomadating and as an added bonus you get to talk to some of the artists that doing the work in front of you.
The Cafe is fantastic and very inclusive to people with all kinds of abilities.
We saw Ross Noble here and it was lovely. A very long line at the drinks counter. The front row was at the same level as the stage.
Great facility for the arts, both visual and performing. Also a nice cafe where you can enjoy lunch or a snack.
Wonderful centre. Great art shows and have seen some great performances here. Last one was Arj Barker. Fantastic.
It doesn't have the charm and music authenticity of the old Skylark but the newly refurbished Burinja Cultural Centre is roomy comfortable with a light open look and feel and has great art and helpful staff.
Went to the theatre which was really good. Whilst there i explored rooms where there was beautiful art hung on the walls and amazing jewellery and exhibits on display under glass. The place was wonderfully light and airy. The staff were very friendly and patient (proof of vaccination can be challenging for some attendees). I'm looking forward to exploring the classes and other cultural experiences on offer.
Great, warm, coffee, WiFi, power to recharge everything and plenty of room. A great resource to help power loss victims cope.
New refurbishment is bright open and the spaces are inclusive. Cafe needs a caterer though.
Hidden gem at the foot of the Dandenongs and well worth stopping by if you're interested in visual and performing arts. It's a little out of the way so check for current exhibitions and make a booking if necessary.
Was here for Open Studio on the weekend recently. Well designed arts & culture hub. As it was no entry into the other areas - can only comment on the ground level artist studios & gallery - which is set out in a seamless way & easy to navigate. Blends well with hillside landscape. Well done!

One of the best arts centre in Victoria if not Australia. Never a dull moment. If you are into the arts and live entertainment. Check this place out
Skylark Restaurant is a nice cosy little place with good food and friendly staff. The theater's facilities are excellent.
For music to be fully enjoyed by an audience their is a key ingredient that needs massive attention by this management. Last night we were once again subjected to the most amateurish of sound level bungling when we attended the Bob Dylan show. Most of the first 20 minutes or more was delivered as a mush of noise. Sound levels were all over the place with the acoustic guitar drowning out any comprehension of an audible voice. While the sound levels and clarity improved dramatically as the show progressed there continued to be annoying times when the acoustic guitar would disappear from the ear and then a violin making the most amazing sounds just twice as loud as anything else on the stage including the singer. Woeful, and leaves a bad taste that a professional show like this could be undermined so successfully. Please lift your act! Or risk losing even your dedicated audience.
